Snow-capped mountains, Atlantic dune beaches, medieval hill towns and celebrated cities all sit inside one country.
The Canary Islands record more than 300 days of sunshine a year, and the Costa del Sol is the sunniest coastline on mainland Europe.
Direct flights from Irish airports reach the mainland coasts, the Balearics and the Canaries, so the journey stays short and simple.
Tapas in Seville, paella in Valencia and pintxos in the Basque Country show how much the food changes from region to region.
The Balearics suit beach and nightlife weeks while the Canaries offer volcanic scenery and mild weather through the winter.
Hotels, apartments and all-inclusive resorts along every coast keep a week in Spain affordable at any budget.

The resorts with the largest family hotel stock are where late rooms appear most often and price lowest.
Torremolinos: Around 8 km from the airport, so a late-booked family is on the beach within half an hour of landing, and the older hotel stock along the Bajondillo and Carihuela beaches keeps late half-board and all-inclusive prices among the keenest on the mainland. We rate it the best late week for young children.
Benidorm: Spain's largest concentration of high-rise hotels means more family rooms left in the final weeks than anywhere on the mainland, with Levante beach around 2 km long, Aqualandia in the resort and Terra Mitica on the edge of town. Our Cheap Spain Holidays late deals cluster here for a reason.
Alcudia: Around 3.5 km of gently shelving sand and the island's biggest choice of family hotels, around 50 minutes from the airport. Late rooms here are scarce in July and August, but in June and September the family hotels release stock at short notice, and that is when we recommend it.
Salou: Shallow, sandy main beaches and a hotel stock built around families, with PortAventura World, one of Europe's largest theme parks, next door, around 100 km from the Catalan capital. Late family rooms appear here outside the school holidays, and park tickets can still be booked the week before.
Playa de las Americas: The busiest strip in the south of the island, with the deepest supply of three and four star family hotels and year-round warmth, so late rooms exist even in February. From November to March it is the late family pick, and our Spain Family Holidays deals show the gap to the mainland clearly.
Late island deals depend on flight seats more than hotel rooms, so flexibility on the departure airport matters most here.
Majorca: The largest Balearic island covers family beaches in the north, lively strips in the south-west and mountain villages within an hour's drive. Majorca holidays booked late are cheapest in early June and late September, when family hotels release rooms; August rarely produces a late bargain.
Tenerife: Mount Teide at 3,715 m dominates the largest Canary Island, and the south has year-round resort weather with most of the newer hotels. Tenerife holidays booked late in winter are the best value in this list, because the flight of around four hours runs year round and the hotel stock is deep.
Lanzarote: Volcanic, low-rise by law and uncrowded, with Timanfaya National Park covering around 51 sq km of lava fields. Lanzarote holidays booked late suit families who want a quieter beach week; the smaller hotel stock means late rooms go first, so October to April is the safer window.
Gran Canaria: The protected Maspalomas dunes sit beside the main southern resorts, and the interior climbs to volcanic villages such as Tejeda. Gran Canaria holidays booked late in winter give families a 3 km urban beach at Las Canteras, dunes and a mountain day at prices that beat the Balearics comfortably.
Fuerteventura: The long beaches of Sotavento draw windsurfers with steady summer trade winds, and the island reaches by ferry in around 30 minutes from its volcanic neighbour. For families with teenagers, late spring and autumn weeks here are often the best-priced Canary deals because demand is lighter.
Packages can be booked up to a few days before departure while flights and rooms remain. The best late prices usually appear in the last two to three weeks, when hotels release unsold family rooms. Peak school-holiday weeks are the exception, because they sell out early.
