Snow-capped mountains, Atlantic dune beaches, medieval hill towns and celebrated cities all sit inside one country.
The Canary Islands record more than 300 days of sunshine a year, and the Costa del Sol is the sunniest coastline on mainland Europe.
Direct flights from Irish airports reach the mainland coasts, the Balearics and the Canaries, so the journey stays short and simple.
Tapas in Seville, paella in Valencia and pintxos in the Basque Country show how much the food changes from region to region.
The Balearics suit beach and nightlife weeks while the Canaries offer volcanic scenery and mild weather through the winter.
Hotels, apartments and all-inclusive resorts along every coast keep a week in Spain affordable at any budget.

These are the resorts where hotel competition keeps family prices lowest without giving up the beach.
Torremolinos: Around 8 km from the airport, so a family is on the beach within half an hour of landing, and the older hotel stock along the Bajondillo and Carihuela beaches keeps half-board and all-inclusive prices among the keenest on the mainland. We rate it the best-value first Spanish week for young children.
Benidorm: Spain's largest concentration of high-rise hotels means more family rooms competing for the same weeks, with Levante beach around 2 km long, Aqualandia in the resort and Terra Mitica on the edge of town. Our Cheap Spain Holidays deals cluster here for a reason: the entertainment is included in the price.
Alcudia: Around 3.5 km of gently shelving sand and the island's biggest choice of family hotels, around 50 minutes from the airport. Prices sit above the mainland strips in July and August, but in May, June and late September this is the family base we recommend most often.
Salou: Shallow, sandy main beaches and a hotel stock built around families, with PortAventura World, one of Europe's largest theme parks, next door. Budget for park tickets separately; the resort itself is one of the better-priced family bases on the Catalan coast, around 100 km from the city.
Playa de las Americas: The busiest strip in the south of the island, with the deepest supply of three and four star family hotels and year-round warmth. It is rarely the cheapest week in summer, but from November to March it is the family value pick when the mainland is cool, and our Spain Family Holidays deals show the gap clearly.
Island prices swing by season more than mainland prices, so timing matters as much as the island.
Majorca: The largest Balearic island covers family beaches in the north, lively strips in the south-west and mountain villages within an hour's drive. Majorca holidays are cheapest in early June and late September, when the sea is warm and the family hotels drop their peak rates; August is the month to avoid on a budget.
Tenerife: Mount Teide at 3,715 m dominates the largest Canary Island, and the south has year-round resort weather with most of the newer hotels. Tenerife holidays cost more than the mainland in summer, but the flight of around four hours is worth it in winter, when a family gets guaranteed warmth for a keen price.
Lanzarote: Volcanic, low-rise by law and uncrowded, with Timanfaya National Park covering around 51 sq km of lava fields. Lanzarote holidays suit families who want a quieter beach week; hotel prices are steady rather than cheap in high season, so we steer families here from October to April instead.
Gran Canaria: The protected Maspalomas dunes sit beside the main southern resorts, and the interior climbs to volcanic villages such as Tejeda. Gran Canaria holidays give families a real city, a 3 km urban beach at Las Canteras and dunes to explore in one week, with winter pricing that beats the Balearics comfortably.
Fuerteventura: The long beaches of Sotavento draw windsurfers with steady summer trade winds, and the island reaches by ferry in around 30 minutes from its volcanic neighbour. For families with teenagers who want watersports rather than nightlife, it is often the best-priced Canary week in spring and autumn.
May, June and late September are the best-value months on the mainland and the Balearics, with warm weather and family hotels below peak rates. January to March is the cheapest time for the Canary Islands, when the mainland is too cool for a beach week. July and August are the most expensive weeks everywhere.
