Snow-capped mountains, Atlantic dune beaches, medieval hill towns and celebrated cities all sit inside one country.
The Canary Islands record more than 300 days of sunshine a year, and the Costa del Sol is the sunniest coastline on mainland Europe.
Direct flights from Irish airports reach the mainland coasts, the Balearics and the Canaries, so the journey stays short and simple.
Tapas in Seville, paella in Valencia and pintxos in the Basque Country show how much the food changes from region to region.
The Balearics suit beach and nightlife weeks while the Canaries offer volcanic scenery and mild weather through the winter.
Hotels, apartments and all-inclusive resorts along every coast keep a week in Spain affordable at any budget.

These are the resorts where all-inclusive family hotels compete hardest, which is where the board basis pays for itself.
Benidorm: Spain's largest concentration of high-rise hotels, two long beaches with Levante around 2 km long and lifeguards in season, Aqualandia in the resort and Terra Mitica on the edge of town. More all-inclusive family hotels compete here than anywhere on the mainland, and our Cheap Spain Holidays deals show what that does to the price.
Alcudia: Around 3.5 km of gently shelving sand, the island's largest choice of family hotels and a transfer of around 50 minutes from the airport. All-inclusive here costs more than the mainland in August, but in June and September it is the family base we book most, because the beach is safe for small children.
Torremolinos: Around 8 km from the airport, with an older hotel stock along the Bajondillo and Carihuela beaches that keeps all-inclusive family prices among the keenest on the southern coast. Our Spain All Inclusive Holidays deals cluster here, and the short transfer matters more than most parents expect with tired children.
Salou: Shallow sandy main beaches, a hotel stock built around families and PortAventura World, one of Europe's largest theme parks, next door, around 100 km from the Catalan capital. Budget for park tickets separately; the all-inclusive hotels here are among the better-priced family options on the Catalan coast.
Playa de las Americas: The busiest strip in the south of its island, with year-round warmth and the deepest supply of three and four star all-inclusive family hotels. It is rarely the cheapest week in summer, but from November to March it is the family pick, and our Spain Family Holidays deals here are strongest in February.
Island all-inclusive prices swing by season more than mainland prices, so the month matters as much as the island.
Majorca: The largest Balearic island covers family beaches in the north, lively strips in the south-west and a UNESCO-listed mountain range within an hour's drive. Majorca holidays on an all-inclusive basis are cheapest in early June and late September, when the family hotels drop their peak rates and the sea is warm.
Tenerife: Mount Teide at 3,715 m dominates the largest Canary Island, and the south stays warm all year with most of the newer four and five star hotels. Tenerife holidays cost more than the mainland in summer, but the flight of around four hours buys guaranteed winter warmth with everything included.
Gran Canaria: The protected Maspalomas dunes sit beside the main southern resorts, and the interior climbs to volcanic villages such as Tejeda. Gran Canaria holidays give families dunes, a 3 km city beach at Las Canteras and a mountain day in one week, with winter all-inclusive pricing that beats the Balearics comfortably.
Lanzarote: Volcanic, low-rise by law and uncrowded, with Timanfaya National Park covering around 51 sq km of lava fields. Lanzarote holidays suit families who want a quieter all-inclusive week; hotel prices are steady rather than cheap in high season, so we steer families here from October to April.
Fuerteventura: Long beaches, steady summer trade winds on Sotavento that draw windsurfers and kitesurfers, and a ferry link of around 30 minutes to its volcanic neighbour. For families with teenagers who want watersports rather than nightlife, its all-inclusive hotels are often the best-priced Canary week in spring and autumn.
For families with teenagers or young children who eat and drink through the day, it usually is, particularly in the large resorts where all-inclusive hotels compete hard on price. In quiet towns with good restaurants a self-catering apartment can cost less. We compare both for your dates before we recommend one.
