Venice City Getaway: Mestre Hotel Stay, Return Flights Included!

Our room was two buildings away from the hotel. One night the toilet stopped working and staff refused to resolve the problem. Spent the night listening to what sounded like a waterfall in the room, staff told me I shouldn’t have booked a 3* when I complained. I asked to speak to the manager and was refused. I was eventually given the managers mobile number and went back to my room to call them, the number was answered by the member of staff I had just spoken to pretending to be the manager. Another problem was the shower screen which didn’t meet the bath and led to the bathroom flooding. The cleaner turned off our heating while we were out so we came back to a cold room. We were approached twice in the street outside the hotel by drug dealers and dai;;y came across people sleeping in the street in the street between our building and the main hotel. The decor in our room was grubby and the carpet outside our door was turned up and a tripping hazard. The walls were thin and you could her the neighbours snoring. A positive was the public areas in the main hotel looked quite nice but that was all we saw of it.

Conveniently located 10 minutes walk from the train station, plenty of bars & eateries local and a 10 minute walk to mestre town. After reading other travellers reveiws and experiencing the intimidating feel within the community from groups of unsavoury individuals, i would personally say I wouldn’t have felt comfortable walking to this Hotel as a solo traveller either. The Hotel itself extends a warm welcome and the most comfortable and convenient we have enjoyed throughout our travels throu Italy, literally only 10 minutes into Venice from mestre station at a cost of €1:45 pp incredible value.

This was a Groupon deal and we were pleasantly surprised re past reviews, just a 5 min walk from train station so it is a bit of a dodgy area, however, we had no problems, the reception staff were friendly and helpful, the room was modern, clean and tidy with good AC, we did have problem first night but reception sorted it quickly, we didnt have breakfast, so bought some lovely fruit nearby and popped to local coffee shop for drinks and pastries to have in our room, local transport is good with regular buses and only 15 mins to Venice. Only problem we had was someone on our floor set alarms off early one morning smoking in the room, so all fire doors closed. At least we knew they worked. Overall a good stay.
