Bleak PoW camp vibes
Bleak. Poorly maintained, awful food, miserable location. Cabins are grim, nothing nice to look at. Nothing else to do and nowhere to go, other than using as a base for sightseeing in the park. Cheapest place to stay in Yellowstone
It is a you get what you pay for situation. The room was very old, tiny, and lacked charm, it was mostly clean, and seemed safe. we took advantage of the option of sitting on the porch at the lodge great view of lake and very relaxing. We didn't spend much time at the room and only ate breakfast one morning at the restaurant. food was ok, coffee was good, but expensive , they did have a gluten fre… It is a you get what you pay for situation. The positives. Location was beautiful. Our cabin was small but cute. The negatives, the canteen and its food was awful by both choice and taste. Do not waste your time or money. But know that there is nothing near by. We would travel during the day and eat out anywhere but there. This is a clean, plain and simple state park type of place. The website describes it as facing the lake and mountains, nope. The people managing it are nice and it is clean but very simple rooms.
