I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook from Sunday, April 26 through Friday, May 1, and overall it was a mixed experience.The biggest issue was that the hot tub was not working for the entire stay. Had a great experience - rooms were updated and clean. I would highly recommend happy hour - one of the best I’ve had at any hotel in the US. There are good local brews, wine and food. It seemed like non-hotel guests were even coming in for the food. Free parking so close to the Stony Brook campus is also nice. Dismally decorated hotel. When we arrived at our room, it smelled like fish. Not pleasant. Requested a new room, instead was offered air freshener. Aroma lingered for two days. That evening went to shower, no shampoo or body was in the dispensers. Shower pressure was closer to a tinkle. Black mold on the shower ceiling and on the calking. Not a pleasant experience.
