This used to be a great hotel... what the heck happened?

I honestly don't know what happened to this property -- used to stay here regularly about 10+ years ago and always a great property/stay. Stayed last week for several days along with colleagues (we have an office nearby) and it was utterly one of the worst Marriott-brand stays I've ever had.The place is literally falling apart. The outside looks like it hasn't been cleaned or powerwashed in years.… I honestly don't know what happened to this property -- used to stay here regularly about 10+ years ago and always a great property/stay. Dump and a half!

Quite a dump. More like a motel. Dated, dingy room behind the elevator shaft, horrible service, pools closed (even though you'll see pools advertised online). Truly damaging to the credibility of the Marriott brand. The Marriott brand has really gone downhill. This hotel was no different. Average rooms, average food. Location really not great. Way to expensive. The lounge was closed on the weekend (all the lounges seem to be closed at Marriott now) so at least they gave us a breakfast voucher. Worst lounge I have ever been to - there was literally nothing. This hotel might be acceptable but has seen better days. It's about a 15-20 minute walk from the train station along a busy road—a walk you definitely wouldn't want to do at night.
