Visiting our home town for a concert

    rating24 Feb 2026

Pros: room was spacious and clean with excellent view of the city. Location perfect for our need. C2 restaurant was excellent! Best baked haddock dinner for me and fish and chips for my husband. Also breakfast was just as good. Excellent time also at the Top of the East. Great bartender at C2 our specialty drinks were really good and we got to watch the Olympics on TV. Drinks were priced very reasonable.Cons: coffee maker was missing parts so could not use it and coffee shop fee was six dollars for a regular coffee and restaurant fee was five. Really? No free coffee for guests. A turnoff for sure!Night lights on headboard one of 4 worked. Plugs for technology items old and charged very slow. Bathroom ground outlet was upside down! Hair dryer kept shutting off.Need room key to run elevator to get to guest rooms. Very inconvenient. Hire security insteadWhile in the C2 restsurant, had to leave the restaurant, go through the lobby and down another hall to get to the bathroom! Thank you to the young man who guided me! Not easy to find and not good for those with mobility issues and time consuming. Did not ask elderly mother to join us as she would have had a very difficult time. Had to leave meal for sometime just to go to the restroom! Should be way closer! Also while in the Top of the East, bathroom is down several stairs on the floor below. Assume you need to use the elevator to go down a floor if a person has mobility issues. Was a pain for a normal person.Parking is a joke. When I made my reservation I included parking cost. The public garage next door. Instructions from my reservation said to get ticket and give it when we check in. No ticket is given. There is a website you go to pay. So since we paid, we did not do that. Thank goodness! The front desk folks said we just use our room key to get in and out of the garage. Okay, so what happens when you check out? You are supposed to use the room key card and drop the card in the box below, but the box is full and you cannot add another card! Panic sets in as how long does the gate stay up? Horrible system! Then you have to carry all your stuff from the parking garage into the front of the hotel as you need a room key to go from the garage through the brease way into the hotel. Not easy. Parking 38 dollars in garage for a day or valet for 45 plus tip...decide gor yourself.Would I stay again? Only if I needed to be close to this location. So many better choices in the area. General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at The Westin Portland Harborview, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your detailed impressions of your visit, Florence. We are pleased to hear that you appreciated your guest room's spaciousness, the sparkling views of the city, and the memorable meals at C2 as well as your time at Top of the East. It sounds like you made the most of some favorite spots in our downtown Portland ME neighborhood. However, we are truly sorry some aspects of your stay were disappointing. The coffee situation and some of the challenges with the parking experience and restroom location clearly made things less comfortable. Your comments regarding the outlets and in-room amenities will be shared with both our housekeeping and engineering teams. We know convenience matters, especially when traveling with family, and your suggestions around accessibility and parking logistics are especially helpful for our Guest Relations team.We value your honest feedback and will use it to continually refine the experience at The Westin Portland Harborview. Thank you again, Florence, for giving our Portland Maine hotel a try during your New England getaway. Your comments help us improve, and we wish you all the best on your future visits to Portland.Scott BourneGeneral ManagerThe Westin Portland Harborview

Conveniently located downtown Portland. Solid modern and clean hotel.

    rating30 Jan 2026

I am a local, but I had a broken hot water pipe so my girlfriend and I took advantage of already low winter rates and then booked one of those Hotwire secret deals and got a king room for three nights for $80 per night at 40% off the nightly rate. That’s a pretty good deal! So we had a little local staycation for a few nights. Tried a few new eating places, saw a comedy show and some music. This is a classic Portland hotel that’s probably been around at least 100 years. In my forty something year lifespan it has been the Sonesta, the Eastland Park, the Radisson, and then Westin bought it and renovated it about a decade ago. Pretty nice hotel right in the center of Portland. Very walkable to anything downtown . An old hotel, but updated and very clean and modern, although rooms are a bit generic. But clean and comfortable, nonetheless. The rooftop bar at Top of the East” has excellent 270° views of the Portland skyline and on a clear day you can see all the way over to Mount Washington, New Hampshire.Valet parking is $40 per night. Self parking I think was $30, but if you’re local like I am, you know you can go a block or two to the east, south, or west and there is plenty of free on street parking in the residential neighborhoods adjacent to the hotel. Just be aware that these days there’s a lot of homeless, junkies, vagrants and crazies wandering the streets, so I can’t guarantee your car might not get broken into if you want to park on the streets nearby. I did and had no problems, and I also lived a block away for a few years and also never had the misfortune of having my car messed with, but it does happen in Portland with the influx of the homeless and druggies that have taken over Portland. Interesting historical fact about this hotel… in the late 70s or very early 1980s Ozzy Osbourne was in Portland for a show. They used to have a small rooftop pool and he was escorted out of the city by police after throwing the pool furniture from the roof to the streets below about 20 stories below! General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at The Westin Portland Harborview, responded to this review Thank you for sharing such a detailed review, Adam. We’re glad you enjoyed your local staycation at our Harborview Portland hotel and that you found our updated rooms and downtown Portland ME location convenient for exploring all that the city has to offer. We appreciate your historical insights and wanted to note that while we no longer have a rooftop pool, our guests continue to enjoy the unique city views from Top of the East. We hope you’ll think of us again for your next Portland, Maine getaway!Scott BourneGeneral ManagerThe Westin Portland Harborview
