Below my expectations for an IHG Property

I am a loyal IHG member and this is the first hotel I can say I was not impressed with. The hotel definitely shows its age. Upon entering the small trees in the planter were totally brown and had been dead for some time. The cart for the luggage had a wheel missing that was placed on the bottom shelf of the cart this sat for 2 days like this. I was welcomed great at the front desk. The room was not what I expect again showing the age. The tub had rust all over by the drain, the toilet handle had all the paint worn off of it apparently still metal. No mirror in which to put on makeup, the hair dryer was old and didn't really work well. There were no toiletries with the exception of a 2 packs of makeup remover. Nothing else. The header on the curtain was filthy. All night I heard the elevator go up and down, my room was right next to it. I did ask to be switched the following day and was accommodated to a room on another floor and away from the elevator. The room was much better than the 1st floor room that I had.Breakfast was just okay, I did have a cocktail at the bar on evening which was limited the person behind the bar was a very nice guy.It was easy to find and had some nice eating places close to the hotel which made it nice since I was there for 5 days on business in the area.All staff was efficient and again for a full service Holiday Inn it was just okay, I will not be staying at this hotel for my next trip to Nashville. Don’t stay here. Hotel is very old and dirty. First experience in the hotel is the terrible smell. Our room felt like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. Breakfast in the morning was very dirty and looked like it was never cleaned up. Didn’t even feel like I could eat because of the unsanitary conditions. Cut short our stay after one night and quickly found new accommodations. Work travel stay. The hotel is showing its age specially on the bathrooms but it was definitely very clean spacious and comfortable. Plenty of light in the room when opening the window blinds which helps your mood specially when you travel for work. Bed was extremely comfortable, plenty of TV channels, internet was quick, and the shower water pressure was perfect. Kudos to the team for delivering a thank you note to my room. Great check-in with friendly staff addressing our needs and questions. Nice clean room, with the only downside being the paper-thin toilet paper. Already booked another room for next year.
