Location

Once a retreat for the Hawaiian royal family, Waikiki is the historic resort district of Honolulu, known for its natural beauty, dramatic surfing beaches and proximity to the island of Oahu's volcanic landmark, Diamond Head. The hotel is located at the intersection of Ala Moana Boulevard and Hobron Lane, in convenient reach of the world-famous Waikiki Beach and within walking distance of the outstanding shopping district with the Ala Moana Center and Kalakaua Avenue. Other nearby Oahu attractions are the island's North Shore and Pearl Harbor. The hotel is adjacent to the beach.

Facility

30 junior suites, 30 suites, 238 single rooms and 115 double rooms are located on 18 storeys and can be reached by 3 lifts. The reception desk is open round the clock. A baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine are available. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The resort has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The complex has wheelchair-accessible facilities. There are a number of shops, including a supermarket and souvenir shop. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage (for a fee) or in the car park (for a fee). Other services include medical assistance, a transfer service, room service and a laundry service. Active guests can make use of the bicycle hire service to explore the surrounding area. 4 conference rooms are available for lectures, presentations and meetings.

Rooms

Rooms are equipped with air conditioning and individually adjustable heating. In most units, a balcony with sea views provides an ideal place to relax. The rooms have a double bed and a sofa bed. A safe and a desk are also available. Additional features include a mini fridge and a tea/coffee station. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio and WiFi are provided as well. A turndown service provides guests with additional comfort in the evening hours. Slippers are included. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub. A hairdryer, bathrobes and a telephone are available for daily use. Wheelchair-friendly rooms can be booked. Family rooms are available for parents with children.

Sport

The outdoor area features 2 pools. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features sun loungers and parasols, is time well spent. Refreshing drinks are served at the poolside snack bar. The resort offers a comprehensive sports programme, including cycling/mountain biking. For a fee, guests can also enjoy golf, fishing and horse riding. With snorkelling or, for a fee, windsurfing, jet skiing, canoeing and diving available, fans of water sports have plenty of options to choose from. Sport and leisure facilities at the resort include a gym and yoga. There is a wellness area with a spa and a sauna. Subject to charge: massage treatments.     Bed was too hard (not firm but hard)

    The location is nice but it was the most uncomfortable bed that i’ve ever (barely) slept in. I have been so tired walking around during the day and was extremely sleepy during the night but I could not get any sleep because the bed was as hard as a box spring. We also had issues with the water temperature in the shower as it was boiling hot, would not even cool down even if we’ve turned it nearly off. Would not stay here again.

    The Modern is not meeting standards.

    We stay in Hilton properties on a regular basis. The Modern is a part of the Hilton Grand Vacation so we are used to certain standards. Unfortunately The Modern does not meet the standards of most Hilton properties. The bed is on a low platform and the mattress is not as comfortable as normal Hilton properties. The tv was broken for almost two days. Staff is friendly and the room is clean. Loved the pool area. Perfect for a hot day. There are many restaurants close enough to walk to- that was good. If asked. I would not stay here again.

    First time at this hotel. First of all let us say that location was good. Staff was VERY nice all the time. We were on the 8th floor. First impressions from elevator to room was how stark the hallways were. All the same color even the room doors. Almost reminded me of the barracks in my military days. Not warm and inviting. While the room was fine we found that the bed was EXTREMELY low to the floor. Getting down and up was not easy for two people in their 70’s. Same with the toilet. While comfortable we don’t think we’ll return as it’s not our style

    Noisy Screeching elevators, no sleep.

    Everything was ok except the noisy elevators. I do not recommend for people who are light sleepers. Sounds vibrated through walls even rooms far away from elevators. Late into the night and early in morning. The best the staff could do is apologize and offer earplugs. SMH 🤦🏻‍♀️ If guests can’t sleep they won’t come back. Learned my lesson the hard way. Fix your archaic noisy elevators Hilton.     We had the City View King Premier with Balcony room. The room was nice, clean and spacious. Balcony was good size. Bed, pillows and blankets were comfortable. In the room all was good. Nothing wrong with the room. Staff was always friendly in the lobby and everywhere. Pool area was nice. Location was a bit a mixed feelings. It was close to Alamoana Shopping Centre and basicly walking distance to all Waikiki area, but still if you will spend most of your time in east Waikiki or south/central waikiki, then the walking could become a bit boring, after few days. But we had another hotel in central waikiki after this hotel, so 4 nights here was ok. Nice to spend time in the west waikiki area also.But anyways. I did enjoy my time in this hotel.
