This hotel is located in a very quiet area, not too far from shopping area. I misread the description, when I saw “breakfast available”, it didn’t occur to me it was the same as “free breakfast”. Wee, now I know. The attached restaurant served breakfast according to the front desk, and we were told it was about $13/person. We chose not to have breakfast there. The room was clean. The wallpaper was peeling in one area and the remote control was missing its back so we put some tape on it so the batteries wouldn’t fall out. The bathroom was really nice. It had the best shower set up I have ever seen. I would like it in my house! The bed was comfortable. Old, unmaintained hotel! Stay if you must!

Pros: the location is near a major shopping area and the Grand Rapids Airport. There is also a complimentary shuttle that picks you up and drops you off at the airport. Free parking on hotel grounds.Front desk agent Sebastian: professional, hospitable, and easy to talk to.Cons: this hotel is dated period. The carpeting throughout the entire hotel has seen better days. As you walk from the lobby past the meeting rooms to the elevator, the carpeting is loose. This could possibly pose a hazard if one is not careful to walk and accidentally trip on rolled carpet. The carpeting is also dirty. Not surprised if this is original carpeting from the time the hotel was built. You can smell its stench in the lobby. It needs serious deep cleaning or replacement all together!The rooms are old. The only thing that was replaced is the back accent wall where the headboards are located. Otherwise, EVERYTHING in the room needs a refresh.When we arrived, the bench near the full length mirror was wet and sticky. We had to clean and sanitize it before use.The desk chair had stains on it. We were grossed out, we didn’t even sit on it.The bathtub walls are showing wear and tear. The bathroom wall corners are caulked over haphazardly. Absolutely disgusting.The lamp on one of the tables was half working. One lightbulb was on but barely, while the other was completely dead.The thermostat is dated, and the wall that it sits on needs work.The bathroom door SQUEALS. This needs to be oiled down! Very unpleasant sound.Mattresses: SAGGY.I do not recommend a stay here unless you are desperate. We had placed our reservation through Park, Sleep, Fly and were pleasantly surprised with this Holiday Inn! The front desk staff was incredibly helpful and courteous, the shuttle driver was very nice and had already found the book that we left in the van, when we called the front desk, they already had it waiting for us to call to hold it. The rooms were very spacious and had coffee pods for the morning. When we returned, our flight was delayed and again our pick-up went smoothly, even with the icy roads that morning!My only suggestion would be to provide granola bars or something quick for those 4:30 am travelers who need to be at the airport earlier than when the breakfast begins. I do love the HI breakfasts, that is why we selected this hotel to begin with. Haven’t received my $100 deposit back, it’s been well over a week and I left the room in the same shape as i entered it minus bed not being made plus some trash. Heat didn’t even work in the room either plus the sink drain took insanely long to drain. Parking lot was awful too on top of it, stay away from this place if you want a good stay. Ended up here thanks to a voucher from AA and loved it

Due to delayed and cancelled flights, we ended up in Grand rapids instead of Traverse City and American airlines gave us a voucher for the holiday inn. Once we landed, I called the hotel and they had a shuttle to us within 5 minutes. The young lady at the desk was extremely friendly and helpful for our check in. We put our luggage away and went to eat at the restaurant in the hotel. The restaurant ended up being closed due to a sick employee but the front desk crew said the shuttle would take us anywhere we wanted to go to eat. So, we did, and one of the employees went with us to make sure the shuttle driver knew where the restaurant was. The shuttle picked us up when we were done. Everything about this hotel was perfect, especially with a long flying day, delays and cancellations. Excellent staff, service, and the room , bed, pillows etc were great. Loved it!
