We had a great vacation here on spring break!! The amenities and property are really nice. Brent the DJ was fun with the kids and had all the great music going. I would recommend and come back again!

Awful smell

When arrived last week, we attempted to check in at 5pm and it took us almost 60 minutes to get through the line to check in. When we got to our room, the smell was awful. It was a combination of wet dog and dog urine. We attempted to turn the air conditioning on, however, it didn’t work - therefore adding to the smell. Hot air, wet dog and dog urine- just awful. We went to the pool to relax for a bit before dinner but the grotto bar was closed and the pool water there was ice cold. The warmer pool was jammed packed with no room to enter or exit due to the number of people. We were so tired from driving all day, we decided to grab a bite to eat in the bar and call it a night early. Again, returning to the room- the smell was disgusting. We went to bed (having to smell that all night). and the next morning went to breakfast and returned to the room where we could no longer bear the smell! We decided we could not stay there another minute- as we were packing up to leave the hotel, we noticed a yellow stain on the floor near the table. Urine! Well that explains the smell! We checked out, explained our complaints. The receptionist didn’t seem surprised, helpful or even concerned. She did waive our hotel fee and parking for the time we were there but didn’t refund us and honestly, we didn’t even care- we knew we just wanted to get out of that place. Would NOT recommend this place at all!!! Beautiful Time At The Island

We celebrated our anniversary and had an amazing time. We had to go before our actual anniversary date due to work schedules so needless to say Spring Break was in full effect with the kids and the noise but over all still had an amazing time. Right on the Beach and Worth Every Penny

.. We weren’t sure what to expect at this hotel, as we are loyal Hilton patrons through and through — but we were pleasantly surprised. The WaveCrest is a truly wonderful property. The hot breakfast was fantastic, the rooms were spotless, and the location couldn’t be better, sitting right on the beach. It’s also just a ten-minute ride to Destin, where there’s plenty to see and do.The coffee was great, and every single staff member we encountered was warm and friendly. The woman at the front desk — I apologize for not remembering her name — was absolutely wonderful. For my wife and me, waking up steps from the beach was the perfect touch. We loved every minute of it. If we ever find ourselves back in Fort Walton Beach, the WaveCrest will without a doubt be our first call.
