  Not perfect but perfectly handled by staff!

  This was not a perfect stay but it was perfectly handled. Every time we had a problem it was quickly and completely fixed. We also had a breakfast hostess named Tara who was as kind as her smile implied. Beyond being nice she was helpful several times during our week long stay. Then there was Eli, the hotel or grounds man. He helped us with the hot tub and pool then as if that wasn’t enough, he found an item we dropped and made sure it got back to us. Everyone who worked here seemed happy. Thank you all for a great week.   The room was fine except mold in bathroom, there was someone who smoked inside the bldg daily, there were 2 nights that there were loud people upstairs, & outside, they woke us up at night, it was Labor Day weekend, the hotel said they’d compensate us for those 2 nights but they never did, the breakfast was good Scott Fredericks, General Manager at Homewood Suites by Hilton Somerset, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.   I stayed at this hotel while visiting friends nearby. It was clean, well maintained, and my bed was comfy. Standard free breakfast, but well stocked. Victor was very kind, friendly, and helpful when I checked in. Will stay here again if I come back.   From one of the best to the absolute worst!

  We were due to check in on September 16 for 2 nights and have stayed at this hotel many times in the past. When we arrived ,we immediately noticed a BIG change and definitely NOT for the better.Hotel had a foul Oder and carpeting was wrinkled and ripped in the lobby.Desk clerk was very rude and definitely didn’t care about the customer.We were told that the hotel is now under a new management team and obviously it shows.We had a prepaid reservation and they demanded,an extra $100 per night incidental fee. Absolutely insane. I contacted the hotel manager by the name of Scott who is the assistant gm.His reply was if you don’t like our policy,Then LEAVE.We have never been treated so rudely as we were at this hotel.We had to contact customer care at Hilton and get them involved and we immediately checked out before we ever went to the room.No way was I going to pay an extra $200 on top of what we already paid.The old management by the name of Aaron Mcduffy always treated us like family and with respect.The incidental fee used to be just $50 but now they have doubled it..Also,How convenient that no front desk agents wear a name tag. I hope this hotel is thoroughly investigated and this management belongs out of there before they run it out of business.This hotel just lost 2 good customers. This is a standard policy communicated at the time of booking and is not optional. The incidental authorization protects both our guests and the hotel in the event of accidental charges or damages and is fully released upon departure if unused.During your visit, our team—including myself—spent over three hours assisting you and your guest to try and make your check-in process as smooth as possible. At no point were our staff rude or dismissive; on the contrary, they remained professional and accommodating throughout. Ultimately, your decision not to proceed with your stay was solely due to declining the refundable incidental deposit, not because of any other service-related issues.We understand that policies may differ from past management, but they are in line with Hilton brand standards and apply consistently to all guests.   We stay at a lot of hotels so we’re picky but it always comes down to the people and the people here made our stay very comfortable. There was one superstar on the team and that was Tara!
