  Not up to Hilton standards or expectations

  Checked in late in the evening (9:00 pm) because we needed some sleep. Hilton is a name that we trust for consistency across the brand. As a Hilton Honors member, I requested a discount on the nightly pet fee ($75) since we checked in so late. I was told that they could not, because it covered the cost for a "deep clean" of pet friendly rooms. Well, the room we were given had not been deep cleaned, because the carpet felt sticky and the room had an odor. The room was so small, my husband and I had to step to the side for each other to move about. There was a continental breakfast in the morning for guests that was typical for a budget hotel. The price we paid for 10 hours of sleep was not a budget hotel price, and don't even bother asking for a veterans discount. Really disappointed in Spark. Hilton needs to rethink this one.   Renovated motel

  I have been a Hilton member for many years. I guess I have come to expect a certain quality from the Hilton brand, This building reminds me of a motel 6. The lobby is so small that it will only fit a couple of people. My room was on the 2nd floor. The elevator is right next to the check in desk. Once upstairs, I walked down a really really long gray hallway to get to my room. The doors are painted a bright blue. Despite the initial cheapness of everything, I have to say —the staff was very nice, the room was clean, and the shower had good water pressure. The breakfast was just ok, similar to Hampton inn and others but minus the hot items. They did have a toaster for bagels and toast. The breakfast area is on the 2nd floor by the elevator. I would caution choosing a room on that end of the hall due to heavy traffic to that area. There were also a ton of little kids running around which could be loud.   Disappointed in our stay.

  We were so disappointed with our accommodations. We have stayed at a Spark by Hilton before and they were lovely. This particular one was obviously a purchase by Hilton and revamped for Spark. When we arrived I got a vibe of extended stay even though it wasn't. We could not pull up to the front door to check in. We pulled around to the side. No luggage carts available. There was a very stale, musty smell. The only elevator was at the front of the building and it was a rather large space. We had quite a walk to our room - two trips because of no luggage carts! The room was ok. Sink is in the room, outside of the bathroom, which did come in handy - one person could be in the shower while the other was doing their thing at the sink. Noise was an issue. It was a pet friendly hotel and there was a dog very close to our room that barked. The doors closed very loudly. The first night we were woken up by people coming to their rooms late, the dog barking and then the garbage truck picking up in the morning. The location was great and convenient to restaurants. Wish we had splurged a little and stayed either at the nearby Hampton Inn or Hilton.   We got two rooms here for two families traveling through New England. We knew this was on the lower-end of the Hilton scale, but were surprised by how rundown the entire hotel was. The rooms were cramped, didn't feel clean, and let all manner of noises in. If we hadn't checked in so late in the evening, we would have found another hotel. Mystic itself is a very charming town, but none of that charm has rubbed off on the Spark.   Shannon was amazing from check in to even helping me out when I locked my keys in my truck!
