Perfect location for exploring. Extremely friendly staff! Access to Benne's and the courtyard was so lovely for midday breaks from the heat. We booked a Garden Courtyard Suite and it was lovely. It's wonderful to stay in a historic place and find that they have kept it up so well. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful. A nice oasis to return to each day, we felt like we had our own little Charleston secret garden every time we walked in. Staff was friendly and helpful. This April was my wedding in Charleston. I wanted a very traditional lovely hotel for myself and family. I had eaten here in the past and loved the hotel. I stayed in one of the Governors Suites. The rate was quite expensive, but this was for my wedding! Our suite, and indeed the entire hotel was in need of new furniture, electrical repairs, and a serious cleaning. I was greatly disappointed.
