A Very tired and rundown hotel in need of massive renovations!
Negatives - The hotel is quite large and need of massive investment to bring it up to standard. It is very dated, tired and rundown in numerous places. The carpets are old, the decor is awful, a lot of the rooms and corridors smell. The windows were very dirty and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned for a few years. Tired, depressing and overpriced hotel
Stayed here for one night with my family in a room with two double beds. The room was accessed across the courtyard from the main reception. The room itself had a tired grey carpet, the lighting in the room was provided by either bright spotlights in the ceiling or one old fashioned yellowing dim wall light (the other wasn't working) and a desk lamp. Gone downhill
Head to be moved as first room was without a window, second room was barely functioning, creaking uneven floors, double glazing falling out, noise from the road, endless steps to get around. Genuinely one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had.Check-in set the tone, with staff who were rude, unhelpful and made us feel like an inconvenience rather than guests.The room was dirty and unbelievably noisy — easily the noisiest hotel bedroom I have ever stayed in. Nice people, hard beds
A little stuffy because no AC and very humid during visit. Good location, close to York City Centre. Good accessible bathroom for mom with mobility issues though corridors & elevators were narrow for wheelchair use. Nice dinner (good pies), empty restaurant.
