Overall a nice stay at The Wild Boar

    rating28 Jun 2026

Room was lovely and spacious only thing that let it down was the cleanliness of the bathroom! Food and service was excellent. Not the best location if you are wanting to stay closer to Bowness or Windermere. Return visit

    rating21 Jun 2026

We’ve visited The Wild Boar a few times but haven’t been since 2019. We had the Overmillbeck suite (our usual go to) as it’s at the back of the property so has no footfall noise. I was pleased to notice their WiFi had improved a lot since 2019 and there’s complementary EV charging (7 kWh). Dinner was delicious in the restaurant - we both had steaks (ribeye and fillet), but £51 for a fillet feels a little rich - it was amazing though!Breakfast was equally delicious, we tried the full English, Rueben the pastrami was melt in your mouth and smoked salmon bennie was great. Drinks at the bar sat by the fire were relaxing. The staffs were all excellent, very friendly and chatty. A couple bits of feedback:The room was nice as ever, but I did notice a few minor cleanliness issues - wooden panelling near bedside cabinet very dusty, inside of shower a bit grubby and the carpet could do with a refresh. The room has no mini fridge (I knew this already) but having a fridge would be handy for keeping water etc cold. We have a travel fridge for the car so brought our own to the room. We will be back, hopefully we won’t leave it another 7 years for our next visit :) Adam Bujok, General Manager at Wild Boar Estate, responded to this review Dear JXR_UK,Thank you for your review and for choosing to return to Wild Boar Estate.I am pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay, the food, and the service from our team. Thank you also for your constructive feedback regarding the room cleanliness and facilities.
