    Weekend Stay at Mercure

    rating29 Jun 2026

Sorry for the late share. My friend and I travelled up from the South and stayed here from 12 - 15th June as we were attending a photography event nearby for the weekend. The hotel is very boujee what with the paintings and staircase. The staff were very polite especially the restaurant staff (Sara, Mia, Courtney, Amanda & Theo) during my solo dinner evenings. We had a slight mixup with the rooms but no problem to move from one area to another. There was a wedding event going on at the same time so I hope that all went smoothly as it looked well organized and had a beautiful cherry blossom archway too.Thank you very much for having us there and hopefully will visit again if our photography event returns to the area.

    Couldn’t fault it

    rating28 Jun 2026

Brilliant stay. The spa is lovely and not too crowded. Courtney, Sara and Mia in the restaurant were amazing, a credit to the hotel. The two lads on the bar Caleb and Liam had great conversational skills and hard work ethic. Will definitely be coming back! Breakfast was also stunning Nick Parry, General Manager at Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you so much for your kind words! Coach Party well received

    rating16 Jun 2026

As part of a coach party we were treated excellently despite the hotel catering for several marriage and business events. The head waiter and a lovely slim waitress in particular made the party very welcome. The ground floor room was spacious with good walk in shower. Certainly not 4 star

    rating13 Jun 2026

The list of negatives is too long to capture but we saw rats running across the courtyard; were placed in a bedroom for disabled persons so and inappropriate facilities for us; restaurant coffee machine not working; no hot running water or heat in the bedroom; toilet smells near reception which they tried to mask with perfumery smells and finally way to few staff. Check out day had a number of guests in front of us raising complaints too. However those that were there worked with a smile and made the stay bearable. Big thanks to Tina who always served breakfast with a smile. Nick Parry, General Manager at Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay with us.Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologise that your experience did not meet your expectations. I am disappointed to learn of the number of issues you encountered during your visit.I am particularly concerned by your comments regarding the rats seen in the courtyard, the lack of hot water and heating in your bedroom, the unpleasant odour near reception, and the restaurant coffee machine being out of service. These are certainly not the standards we strive to maintain, and I have shared your feedback with the relevant department managers for immediate review and investigation.I am also sorry that the room allocated to you did not meet your requirements. Whilst accessible rooms are designed to accommodate a wide range of guests, I appreciate that the facilities may not have been what you were expecting and apologise for any inconvenience caused.I recognise that the combination of these issues had a significant impact on your stay. Whilst it is disappointing to read your comments, I am grateful that you have taken the time to bring them to our attention so that we can address them appropriately. On a positive note, I was delighted to read your kind comments regarding our team members. Despite the challenges faced, it is wonderful to hear that they remained friendly and helpful throughout your stay. In particular, I will ensure that your compliments are passed on to Tina, who will be delighted to know that her warm service and positive attitude made a difference to your experience. Please accept my sincere apologies once again for the shortcomings you experienced. We value your feedback and will use it to improve our facilities and service standards.Kind regards,Priya ThakurFront Office ManagerMercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel
