  Long wait and poor service.

  Booked a table in advance, but when we arrived, we had to wait for 30 minutes after our booked time, before we could sit down.We've eaten here before and had reasonable meals and service, so we knew to expect the screaming children, duck lips, tattoos, football shirts and oversized gold belcher necklaces. Once seated, service was fine, until we'd finished our main course. After that, it all went downhill. Bear in mind that, by now, a lot of customers had left and there were loads of empty tables. Unfortunately, the staff seemed to have decided that the remaining customers could fend for themselves! Our table was cleared and we asked for dessert menus. The waitress said she would bring them, but that was the last we saw of her! 20 minutes later, we eventually caught the eye of another waitress who got us some menus. Another 20 minutes passed before we had to go and find the waitress to come and take our order. Yet another 20 minutes later, the desserts arrived. Presentation of my Chocolate brownie sundae was amateur, at best. We asked for the bill at the time the desserts were brought up, but, many minutes after finishing the desserts, still no sign of the bill. Eventually, we got up from the table and went to the bar to pay. So, in conclusion, atmosphere was as expected, food was alright, service was really not great. We were there for 3 hours. No wonder we had to wait for our pre-booked table in the first place! Come on Marston's, you're better than this.

  We visit this place every now and then as it’s only down the road from us, and we never really have an issue. Food is always good, service is normally fantastic. But, we visited again and this was not the case. After booking a table for 6:30 our table was not ready until half an hour later, we didn’t mind waiting too much as the sun was out and we found a table outside to have a drink at. once we sat down at our booked table and placed another drink order with our waitress we had to wait around 20 minutes for the drinks and for our waitress to come back and take our food order. The food was lovely, there was no issue there on our part. Once we finished we asked the waitress for the dessert menus. These didn’t materialise for another 10-15 minutes and we had to grab another waitress for these as ours had disappeared. Desserts were fine, but as it was now around 9 o’clock we asked for the bill when the desserts arrived. Another 15 minutes later and the bill didn’t come. So we decided to go and pay at the bar. All in all, food good but service extremely poor. Ellie - the manager we met seemed to absolutely love her job, and had explained they had had a crazy busy day which we took on board. But by the time we were waiting for our bill the restaurant had practically emptied out. I can understand the staff had probably worked so hard during the day, but unfortunately we felt quite let down that time around.

  Nothing really changes at The Ebbsfleet

  Usually stay here when in the Dartford area on business, it's a handy venue to meet up with my mate Dan, who lives locally. Asked for a quiet room and 404 was reasonably quiet. Dinner was OK, the blonde manager was excellent, but the surly barman didn't add anything to the overall experience.
