Next time I’ll be going in with a black light…

    rating04 Mar 2026

A lovely hotel in the heart of Leicester, situated close to the train station and 5 minutes walk from the main shopping area. The hotel was nicely decorated, although could probably do with a lick of paint in areas as the paint was mismatched. On to the room it was super warm and cosy (just how I like it) - The lift was working when I visited. However I do reckon the carpets do need to be cleaned as there were spots of white on the carpet. The room I was staying in you could get into the room without using the key fob (which wasn’t a problem as I was only there for 1 night - I did mention it to the staff but they seemed to have known about it, so I would probably check your door locks after you leave if you are staying longer) Other than that it was a lovely stay, but definitely could do with improvements as mentioned above.

I was really impressed with this Ibis hotel. The interior was very nice with lovely bedroom and eating area. The staff were friendly and there is a small car park. Would definitely stay there again.

    First and last !

    rating04 Jan 2026

I stayed at the Ibis Leicester City on Sat 29th November 2025 for the first and last time. On my arrival I find out that the only lift was broken and will remain broken untill January 2026. No communication was sent prior to my stay as I may have been inclined to look elsewhere. The room was basic as expected but there was what appeared to be blood stained on the carpet. The air conditioning/heating did not work. The TV did not work as the coax cable had been ripped out the back of TV (Room next door had the same issue). The safety latch on the window was broken and was a safety risk. The morning after when I went down to breakfast at 9:50 I was greeted by the receptionist that said " not much left but help yourself" when I complained I was told that breakfast ended at 10am but stated 11am on my booking. I was refunded breakfast but then had the inconvenience of having to go elsewhere. I emailed All Accor with this feedback last week but have yet to receive a reply. Is this really the standard that I should expect of Ibis ?Terrible experience overall !

Needs a bit of cleaning up but a good nights sleep

    rating10 Dec 2025

Unfortunately when I arrived the lift was not working and won’t be until next year. Not a problem for me as I was on the first floor but something to be aware of.I arrived early, before check in time, but they kindly found me a room that was ready. The window didn’t seal very well so I had the sound of the wind whistling through (it was VERY windy) but earplugs solved that problem. The carpets could do with a wash but generally they were ok.The bed was very comfortable and the room was not too hot.Nice shower with plenty of hot water.Breakfast was good and relatively cheap. All in all I would stay here again. Good location. Ibis City, General Manager at Ibis Leicester City, responded to this review Dear Russ,Thank you very much for staying with us at Ibis Leicester. We are glad to hear that overall you enjoyed your stay. We are going to take all of your comments in mind and make the improvements. Hopefully, when you visit us again, your experience with us will be even better and the lift should also be fixed by then! Once again, thank you so much for the kind comments and we hope to see you soon.Sincerely, Karishma

    Avoid this hotel!!!!

    rating23 Nov 2025

Two friends and chose the hotel as it was close to the station and city centre for the Christmas market, and having stayed at Ibis/Accor hotels on several occasions both in the UK and overseas I was understandably hopeful of the same level of comfort and service.Upon check-in at 5pm, we were harassed at the reception/bar area by a very drunk man who the staff seemed to know/be aware of but did nothing about, which immediately put us on edge.We were then allocated our rooms on the 4th floor and informed that the lift was out of order with no prior warning. Upon reaching the 4th floor up a very tired and grubby set of stairs that smelt strongly of cannabis we reached our rooms. By which time one of my friends who suffers from a chronic back condition was in agony but didn’t want to worry us as we were exhausted from a long day already 😢The lift door on the 4th floor had a sign on it saying that the lift would be out of order until 31 JANUARY 2026!During our stay, we encountered a number of residents wandering the corridors looking “out of it” and a strong smell of cannabis in the corridors. We also came across people smoking drugs in the hotel car park and in various states of undress which made us feel very uncomfortable . It was obvious that the hotel was also being used as temporary local authority housing/crisis accommodation. My room was tired and shabby with a TV hanging off the wall and disgustingly stained carpets, which meant that I had to keep shoes on just to walk around the room as god knows what the stains were - see pics 🤢The “mattress” was an absolute joke. A thin piece of foam with an ill-fitting cover atop and uncover hessian base type thing. On returning that evening after a meal, another guest was at reception explaining that she couldn’t sleep as her toilet was constantly flushing. The person on reception said there was nothing they could do as the maintenance person only works Mon-Fri! What sort of hotel doesn’t have access to a 24/7 emergency repairs service?! Especially one that is part of an international chain of hotels! The receptionist tried to fob the guest off with a free breakfast worth £11 - to which she rightly replied that wouldn’t compensate for the loss of a night’s sleep so politely refused.Generally the staff were pleasant but were obviously disinterested and lacked a basic level of customer care.As a result of both the very uncomfortable bed and generally feeling unsafe both my friends and I had a terrible night’s sleep - not ideal when we faced 3-4 hour drives home the next day. This hotel falls woefully short of the standard expected from an Ibis hotel. I’ve stayed at Ibis budget in the past - which this one wasn’t - that were of a much better quality. The lack of accessibility and the fact that the hotel is being used for purposes other than leisure and travel guests means that it should not be advertised on booking sites until the issues are resolved.I will be making a complaint to Accor Hotel Group separately and requesting a refund. I didn’t expect luxury for the price, but I don’t think expecting cleanliness, a sense of safety and a decent night’s sleep is too much to ask 😓Avoid at all costs!!!!!!! Ibis City, General Manager at Ibis Leicester City, responded to this review Dear Nicola, You duplicate message from a different web site, will receive once again our full apologies about the issues encountered during your stay. As explained already we have investigated and took actions during your stay about a resident not fitting our strict non smoking policy and general attitude in our public area. We have been especially careful about our lift situation being out of service. Sorry if this was not seen from your side. The mattress you mentioned is a Topper and we have received very good comments about our Ibis Sweet Bed. Once again, I am very sorry about the inconvenience encountered during your stay. Please come back to me if you wish to discuss further. Kind regards, Patrick Hotel General Manager Ibis Hotel Leicester.
