  Okay, first off, it’s a budget hotel and not the Mayfair or any lavish hotel, so not expecting any luxury and you should not. Location: Located behind a StoneHouse chain pub/restaurant and for all purposes what appears to be an industrial estate. Haribo factory is on the right hand side as you enter the estate. It is more or less quiet. It’s five to ten minutes from Castleford train station by car. We used CAS cars and pre booked using their app. It cost us £5.00 and I consider this to be good value based on similar distances where I normally live. Uber is available in the area, but you will pay a premium at peak busy times like first thing in the morning or school /work kick out times. Castleford train station seems to have hourly trains to york and Sheffield, as well as half hourly trains to leeds.The Arriva /Metro 189 bus otherwise goes by the hotel across the road towards the train station and vice versa. There is a path walked into the grass, so it’s not an official route, that you can take, then leg over a small below knee height fence before walking around the right hand side of the building. It will save you some time though.The room: Clean Floors. Clean bed linen, Clean Towels, Clean bathroom mirror and shower screen. There is space for hanging clothes without about five hangers pre-provided. The top shelf above this was dusty. There’s desk space if you hang a laptop or need to write . Above this in our room there’s a large TV which has some of the channel apps you can expect (ITV etc). Unsure if you can plug your own dongle in. There's a kettle, with glasses and cups, and a small selection of tea and coffee. Windows open well, and the net curtain and curtains are easy to manage. There is NO BOTTLED WATER despite being advertised on the website booking page for the room. The expectation is that you use the sink in the bathroom. I personally have issues with this but apparently it's well within UK regulations. If it was otherwise undrinkable it would need other be labelled. It would be extremely useful if the Hotel could make this information clear, particularly if you are visiting the hotel from overseas. There are a few shops within a 5 minute drive/ 15-20 min walk if you wanted to buy large bottles of water etc. Iron can be asked for from reception, as well as ironing board. Be mindful to steam the iron first to avoid stains on clothes, as well as the ironing board cover, if there's anything that could transfer to clothing when ironing. Bathroom: Enough space to set toiletries to either side of the bathroom sink. The toilet itself is low. If you use crutches or have any mobility issue that causes you problems going from standing to sitting, I would recommend calling the hotel to query whether they have accessible toilets in any of the the other rooms that may be more appropriate for you to book.There was dust on the outside edge of the shower tray, (toilet side of the shower screen) that would take remarkable skill to miss. This isn't the view of an over critical person, there was literally enough buildup that you'd get if you hadn't cleaned or wiped down after showers following a few days. Access: Via NFC keycard. Be mindful about putting it near anything that is magnetic (particularly you phone if the case has a wireless charging ring on the back) as it will demagnetise your card and it will need redoing, otherwise you're not getting back into the part of the building where the rooms are, or your room. Wifi: Available and appeared to be fast. They use a captive wifi portal which would be the norm these days. Food: Breakfast can either be paid for on the day, or as part of your booking. If you are vegetarian, or vegan, I would say that the cost is not worth it for what is available. In theory, buffet breakfast should be available and include hot food (sausages, bacon, tomatoes, beans, scrambled egg, mushrooms). These are laid out in lidded food heaters on a table on the right has you go into the 'restaurant'. There is small section that you can get cereal from (cocopops, rice crispies and cornflakes). Next to this is a smaller bit that if you're lucky will have a small selection of pain au chocolat, pancakes, waffles, croissants, and three variations of bread for toasting (You will need to put the toast through twice). Behind you you can get coffee or tea. Cups are small so if you rely on caffeine to get your day kicked off, you might drink about five. Back to the other side and there's a metal chilling area that has jugs of milk, orange juice an apple juice. Only non-dairy milk available is soya milk. Staff: No greeting with a smile or politeness. The european chap who seemed to be there from morning to night (questionably long hours?) seems perpetually tired and inconvenienced. It's not the ritz, but a warm welcome sets the tone, and it was completely missing here. It does seem like the hotel runs on little to almost no staff and I wonder if this plays into it. There was only one distinctly polite and friendly member of staff. Parking: Pay to park. The carpark is managed by a different company.Would I stay again? Potentially, now knowing what to expect.

  Nice quiet place to stay, £5 parking which is reasonable and ample space for most vehicles, EV charging with 4 outlets at 7kwhr. Rooms very spacious, clean, bathroom was lovely, bed was just right for me. Stayed Sunday left Monday, no restaurant on a Sunday but there is a pub around the corner which do Sunday Roast which was very nice. Make sure you have your booking number available upon arrival.
