A handy location for us, pleasant staff but not the hotel it once was

Avoid at all costs!
Do not stay in a 'Courtyard Room'. These are very dated, furniture is old and worn. For those old enough to remember - it's very 'Crossroads Motel' - including the flimsy, old, worn doors and lack of soundproofing. There is a lot of noise - literally every 2 minutes or so - from the water heating system that sits above the rooms though the staff did move us to a quieter room after we complained. Grande Dame in need of some attention
Stayed here as part of a tour last week. The exterior of the hotel is beautiful and the resident hairy coos are so cute! The staff was lovely, but this hotel needs a major renovation inside. It’s a grand dame that needs so love and attention. Last renovation looks to have been made in the 90s and it shows. A lovely hotel but not a good stay
Arrived at the hotel and were surprised at the grandeur of the building exterior and interior. Checked in quickly and easily and took cases to our room. We had booked crfeam tea so went straight down to the bar. Nobody there to greet us and waited, and waited. Eventually somebody came to our table.
