  Just had dinner here. Lovely staff, lovely atmosphere, great food, generous portions and super value for money. We'll definitely be back when we return to this area in the future.

  Mouldy. Shabby. Grim.

  Unlike the bar which does good food. Extraordinarily poor but pricey room. Only redeeming feature was a Nspresso machine. Tiny bathroom which was unacceptably mouldy in shower, on walls and on the ceiling. So bad couldn't face using shower. Black dirt on the carpet. Cheap mattress with smelly greasy looking cushions. Partner had to fix light over mirror as connection was loose. Dressing table chair was covered in what looked like pastry crumbs. Walls covered in knocks and scrapes. Flet totally neglected. Would never stay again. Management should question if they employ cleaners, whether any cleaning is actually being carried out.

  Sordid horrid rooms. Good food.

  There is a separate trip advisor listing for the rooms to stay at the Riccarton where people note how filthy and wretched they are. Let me tell you I have never stayed in such a dirty, souless, poky room and it wasn't cheap. Mouldy, in a big way. Grubby. Cheap mattress. Greasy dirty carpet. Expensive. I am posting here because I have eaten in this pub a lot and the food standard, whilst very expensive, was good. So I thought the rooms would follow suit. To help other Travellers I am bridging the gap between their two trip advisor sites for the same place which says it all, that they have two sites. One for bar and food and one for rooms. I mean if u stay there you probably will eat something there right? Dont stay here. It was GHASTLY. And expensive. Never had a bad meal here and bar is pleasant. I can't fathom why they allow themselves to have such sordid rooms.

  Dirty, grubby room

  We booked as we had an early flight. Had a meal and a couple of drinks,which were really nice. Bar staff were great. When we went to our room however, it was the worst room I have ever been in. I am happy with basic, but this room was something else! There were drips of blood, yes blood on the door frame of the bathroom, the carpet was disgusting, and the drawers had previous occupants opened food inside! I was going to complain to the girl at the bar, but tbh, they were so helpful she would have probably offered to go in and clean it herself! At least the bedding was clean and the towels looked great. Although we though it best not to shower as we would have probably caught something nasty.

  Lovely meal in the Riccarton Inn

  We were looking for a nice local place for our meal after our flight and trip to the outskirts of Edinburgh. We weren’t disappointed with the Riccarton Inn. The welcome was warm, the pub welcoming, the food delicious and good value. I had the large chicken, bacon and haggis pie which was lively and filling, so much so I couldn’t fit in a dessert. She who must be obeyed has the pan fried cod which was a lovely solid cut of fish with black pudding and sautéed potatoes. She described as the nicest and most filling fish meal she’s had, which is praise indeed. If in the Currie area, it’s worth a trip for a wholesome reasonably priced. earl - £50 including 4 drinks.
