  This city centre hotel is an excellent location, we recently utilised this hotel for golf in St Andrews which was excellent. The amenities and staff, in particular Simon (Reservations Manager) were great with us and our group. The hotel is clean and great value for money while in the local area

  The hotel is central, and feels new and clean. We arrived on a Monday afternoon, and parked at the hotel. There are some spaces on the surface and a few underground spaces, all of which cost £10 per day to park. There were a few spaces left when we got there. The hotel was very pleasant. The room was spacious and clean, and the bathroom felt modern. There were plenty of charging points in the room. There were the usual Hilton amenities in the bathroom. The television was large and had a range of channels. Wifi was fast and free.Check in was friendly and welcoming. The person checking us in asked if we had a car in the car park, and we paid her on arrival for our stay.I have a Hilton Honours Diamond card, and normally this is mentioned on check in, and at Hampton properties, you are offered a snack and a drink, but this wasn't the case. There was no mention of Hilton Honours, or use of the premium tiered key card holders through my stay, in case that is of interest.There appeared to be only two people working in the hotel. We went to our room, then I went downstairs to get a coffee. However, a group had just arrived, and as the two people on check in also were covering the bar, I waited ten or fifteen minutes for the queue to go down, and then ordered coffee from the staff who were now busy with the members of the group who had moved from check in to the bar. The person serving me was very apologetic and said she would bring the coffee over, which took another ten minutes or so given how busy she was. I was going to ask about the Honours drink and snack but seeing how overloaded she and her colleague were, I went to the supermarket immediately oppostite the hotel instead.Breakfast was the normal Hampton offer with a basic buffet, with fruit juice, tea, coffee, bacon, sausage, eggs, breads, pastries, waffles, fruit, cheese and ham as well as cereals and yoghurt. The man who was working at breakfast was super helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough.All of the staff that we met were fantastic and a real asset to the hotel, it's a pity that they seemed so short staffed when we arrived.We later found out that the hotel is just inside the Dundee LEZ - Low Emission Zone - meaning that some older or polluting cars are not allowed to drive in the area. Apparently the detection cameras are a little further along the road from the hotel, but the zone is marked right outside the hotel. Our staff handled it with grace under pressure, but you shouldn't have been in that position in the first place. Staffing levels on that day clearly weren't where they needed to be, and that's something we're taking seriously.We also want to apologise sincerely for the oversight around your Hilton Honours Diamond status. Acknowledging our loyal guests and ensuring you receive the recognition and benefits you've earned should be our second nature and on this occasion it wasn't. That will be fed back to the team.Finally, thank you for the note about the Low Emission Zone.   Good rooms, terrible breakfast

  Good room and friendly staff but breakfast was terrible! No fried eggs, haggis, blackpudding or tattie scones. All they had was scrambled egg, beans, sausages and bacon and the sausages were poor quality as well. Also, when we checked in I had to write both mine and my wifes names on the paper work so security can check our IDs when coming back in at night. My wife wasn’t carrying any ID but fortunately security didn’t ask! We weren’t told this in advance or we would have made sure to have it.   Coeliac ! Don’t Go

  Booked two rooms for a2 night stay on arrival at 3 o’clock one room wasn’t ready and wouldn’t be ready for another 30 mins great start ! We had booked disabled parking which was available on the first night but on the second night a car parked in the disabled bay with no blue badge when I alerted the receptionist about this I was told that they didn’t have any power to move it that I would have to park in another car park away down 2 streets away after a heated discussion one of the staff decided to move their car out and allow us to park near the hotel ( mobility issues) , we had breakfast on each morning and my wife who is coeliac had a great choice for breakfast 2 SLICES OF GLUTEN FREE TOAST AND A BANANA!!!!! NOT even a gluten free cereal in the hotel ( they were advised on the booking about coeliac guest ) for the rest of the party cold sausages , cold bacon , cold hash browns, not the best breakfast on a cold winter’s morning so disabled and coeliacs beware HILTON DONT care about you !!!!!Stay elsewhere Kinga Korczak, Guest Services / Front Office at Hampton by Hilton Dundee City Center, responded to this review Dear M4620Vljohna,I was very disappointed to read your comments, particularly as we always strive to provide a welcoming and comfortable experience for all of our guests.   Our golf squads stay at the Hampton by Hilton in Dundee and find the hotel great. It is clean, comfortable and the staff are helpful. Simon (Reservations Manager) in particular has been superb, facilitating the reservations we need, even when sometimes it can be a bit last minute. His communication is excellent.
