Disappointing Sunday Lunch

Whilst staying in the area we decided to call in for Sunday lunch. The place was quite busy but we were able to get a table. We ordered the roast dinners, chicken and the beef. Unfortunately neither were of a good standard. The beef was tasteless, it came with overcooked vegtables and a horrible sweet gravy. Lovely place that has different dining areas. Unfortunately, only the main one has character and atmosphere for dining. Therefore, take this into account when booking.For us, the menu was limited choice. We stayed for 3 nights over Christmas and it was excellent. Spotless room, delicious food, fabulous, friendly staff. Couldn't beat it & we look forward to doing it all again at Christmas in 2026. The service was absolutely appalling. Since this was our first time here the attitude we were given because of not knowing where to go was shocking. When the mains came out they were nothing special and the plates were trying to be taken away when it was clear someone was still eating.
