The hotel is situated on the outskirts of Saint Helier, about a 5-minute drive from the town centre. The island is 14.5 km by 6.5 km, so nothing is far away. Jersey Airport is only about 7 km from the hotel.

The hotel was built in 1860. Guests have a choice of 284 non-smoking rooms located in two 5-storey buildings with lifts. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Services such as a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service ensure a comfortable stay. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. There are also a number of shops that make for great strolling and browsing. Additional facilities include a TV room. The hotel is located some distance from the city centre. The terrain is fairly flat and we walked it in twenty five minutes (we are elderly), but the hotel provides a shuttle bus if you prefer to save your legs.This place is showing its age, but is still a good place to stay and we were pleased with our choice. This was our second time at the hotel..The place has such a lovely feel..Room was fine..2 fans were welcome but was glad it was not hot.The food Inc Breakfast and Dinner was delicious. We had a great week at the Hotel de France. Staff were friendly and accommodating. We felt relaxed and welcome. Food was great from breakfast, dinner and room service. A bit out of the centre, but adds to the tranquility of the gardens. Rooms comfortable with a/c, comfee beds, bathroom a bit tired lighting poor. Public areas bar balcony smart friendly staff. The spa and pool area superb well maintained. Came a few years ago but we came back simply for the outstanding customer service. Most people would think they pay the price for this hotel, for it's offer of fancy, spa retreat and quiet but we booked again simply for the great level of customer service.
