Pretty Hotel But Disappointing Spa and Breakfast Experience

We stayed at The Gainsborough Bath Spa for our anniversary. Reception was welcoming, the hotel is in a perfect location, and the room was very nice. We also appreciated the complimentary bottle of wine.However, we chose the hotel primarily for the spa, and the access times for hotel guests (8–10am and 7–9pm) were disappointing. Overall still a good experience but maybe getting too expensive for a day spa. A friendly welcome including being wished Happy Birthday which was noticed from my completed health and safety form. The spiced chocolate machine that used to be poolside has now moved to the reception area which is a shame. Many of the jets in the main pool were not working and the drains were a little smelly. The hotel is ideally located for those wishing to see Baths sites and shopping, it's also only a short walk to the station. Staff were friendly and always available.
