Although I've found people all over Tunisia to be incredibly kind and helpful, these are not the adjectives I'd use for the staff at the Hotel Sahara Douz, who seemed grumpy and not interested in addressing any of my questions. My room's AC was not functioning; and the room was filled with flies and mosquitoes, so I was reluctant to open the unscreened window for air flow. Awful hotel, rooms are very run down. Food was extremely limited. No water available in the room. Beware of the staff especially the reception who didn't give me the correct exchange ( he kept 30 dinars as a commission) . You can get much better quality for your money. This is a average hotel, nothing special when it comes to rooms (a little bit old furniture and bathrooms should be painted), food was enough at restaurant. 4 dinar the water.The hotel was crowded in october. Perfect for a one night stay
Stayed here overnight on a 2 day Sahara trip. Whilst the hotel is a little worn overall it was more than adequate for a single night stay. A hell - hole. Beds where sheets were not changed.
