    It is a perfect hotel. It is located next to the entrance of Sahara desert. The people are very polite and friendly people. Good food, clean rooms. Staff is professional.     Not as bad as some people say

    In the weeks leading up to my visit, it struck me as odd that the majority of reviews for this hotel were either 5-star or only 1-star: it seemed people either loved it or hated it. My experience - as a seasoned traveler - was that while it’s no Hilton or Grand Mariott, it wasn’t all that bad. A few things posted by others are true: the hotel is dated (welcome back to the 70s), and all of the amenities might not be up to modern-day standards, but even though I was traveling in the off-season (mid-November), my room was spacious and clean, and the staff were pleasant (if not a bit disinterested at times). I think any travelers considering visiting this hotel should keep in mind that Douz is literally 6+ hours away from Tunis, and on the fringe of civilization, next to one if the largest deserts in the world, in a country that does not have the same means as other more-developed countries. If you keep this mindset, and just “roll with it” any small issues or inconveniences you might have while there as far as room styling and amenities, minor cleanliness issues, etc., you’ll have a much more pleasant stay.
