    Disappointing, overpriced and run down

    rating14 Jul 2023

Overpriced and not up to date. The food is bland and the amenities in the rooms (fridge, toilet etc) are either ancient, stained or not working. The staff seem unengaged and the place is understaffed - the waiters are newbies and / or stressed. Don’t expect to have a full stomach after dining - but expect your pockets to be empty.Thumbs down. patrice bez, Directeur général at Grand Hotel Des Rasses, responded to this review Madam, We take note of your comments and your personal opinion. A beautiful grand dame of a hotel

    rating15 Aug 2022

This Swiss historic hotel is a beautiful grand dame with some needs for a touch of make-up here and there but majestic nonetheless. The rooms ooze old style and most have balconies with beautiful valley views. The welcome is very personal with each guest receiving their personally addressed information booklet, a nice touch. The restaurant is definitely a must-visit, their local trout was perfectly prepared with a mushroom sauce that asked for seconds.

Amazing View in a Historical Building

    rating02 Jun 2020

We celebrated our Wedding anniversary in this historical hotel. The view to the alps from the room, restaurant, bar and the swimming pool is just amazing! The structure of the hotel itself is old and preserved. There are explanations of the historical stuffs of the whole building of the hotel which we found it very interesting on how the people spent their time in that building during the early times. Not to forget, the view to Mont Blanc and the surrounding alps from the hotel is unbelievable especially during the sunset with changing colours shining onto the alps. The renovated rooms with balcony is very nice and modern and not too overdecorated. There is even a dressing table in the room. However, the room number 78 that we stayed in has quite a small bed for 2 person. Luckily one of us is not so big so we could still fit in that bed without much moving in bed or else for sure one will fall out of bed. The size of the bed is just slightly wider than a usual single bed. Since we are on our wedding anniversary trip, we could hug each other the whole night to prevent falling out of bed. The balcony is also great in our room. It's spacious and with the amazing view to the alps and Mont Blanc. It's even a very nice place to see the stars from the balcony with clear skies and very bright stars. We are not sure if they did not provide any glass/cups in the bathroom due to the Covid-19 prevention measurements in place which is quite inconvenient for someone that needs a cup to brush their teeth. Luckily there are wine glass in the minibar. There we also no hand soap for us to wash our hands at the bathroom sink since frequent washing of hands are essential nowadays. So we always have to walk into the shower cubicle to squeeze some shower gel from the wall dispenser to wash our hands. Slippers were also not provided in the room but there is a nice bathrobe and pool towel in the cupboard to go to the pool and spa.Breakfast is amazing. Instead of buffet breakfast which you usually help yourself, are now being served on the table by a lovely waitress with a trolley. She was so nice during the breakfast service and also did check on us if we need to refill our breakfast meal. She gave us a good start of the day with her excellent service. The quality of the breakfast is also very good. We had dinner in the hotel. Dinner was ordinary and not very special. The fish was quite dry as well as the carrot of the salad as it's already being cut for quite sometimes in the fridge. The waitress that served us that night was great. She always has this smile on her face and was extremely polite. Pity that we did not get her name. Her service gave us an amazing evening in that restaurant although the food was just ordinary. The swimming pool is very clean and modern with massage functions and the size of the pool is good. While swimming you can see the Mont Blanc from the horizon of the pool. Overall the structure of the building is outdated but it's a historical hotel. So we expected already that nothing is modern inside but was surprised on the great renovation they did for the swimming pool, spa and the terrace. We enjoyed very much in this historical hotel. Will definitely come back here again for the amazing view to the alps and the friendly service of the waitress. We were also very happy with the Covid-19 prevention measurements that the hotel have in place that gave us confident and feel safe to stay in this hotel. Thanks a lot for the nice arrangements for our room although there are some problems in it but the view and the service of the waitress made it all up.

    Great views, outdated hotel

    rating20 Oct 2019

Fantastic location with terrific views. Absolutely extraordinary location. The hotel has seen better times. While the rooms are spacious, the furniture is outdated. The meeting rooms smell chlorine from the neighboring pool, service level is substandard. Direction-ghr, Directeur général at Grand Hotel Des Rasses, responded to this review I thank you for your opinion.I take note of your remarks.I also let you see reviews on social networks that are more favorable to our hotel.Patrice BDirecteur
