Location

The hotel is situated some 7 km from the heart of Kandy. From here guests are able to enjoy views of the forest-covered mountains of Heerassagala. It is quietly situated, overlooks the city and is among the most enchanting hotels in Sri Lanka.

Facility

The resort has a lift and features 100 rooms. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. A cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service are available. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The resort has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The complex has wheelchair-accessible facilities. There are a number of shops, including a supermarket and souvenir shop. The grounds of the resort feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a TV room, a playroom and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage (for a fee) or in the car park. Other services include a 24-hour security service, a babysitting service, a childcare service, a car hire service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service, an alarm call service, a laundry service, a coin-operated laundry and a hotel shuttle bus. Active guests can make use of the bicycle hire service to explore the surrounding area. Complimentary newspapers are available. To assist guests with their business and communication needs, the business centre offers a fax machine.

Rooms

Rooms are equipped with air conditioning, central heating and a fan. A balcony or terrace is a standard feature of some rooms. Rooms have a double bed, a queen-size bed or a king-size bed. Separate bedrooms can be booked. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Additional features include a refrigerator, a mini fridge and a tea/coffee station. There is also an ironing set and a trouser press. A telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a CD player, a DVD player and WiFi (no extra charge) ensure optimal comfort. Guests are always kept up-to-date thanks to the daily paper provided. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower, a bathtub and a bidet. A hairdryer and bathrobes are available for daily use. For extra comfort in the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. The resort has family rooms and non-smoking rooms.

Sport

The indoor and outdoor pools are ideal for exercise as well as relaxation. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features sun loungers and parasols, is time well spent. Refreshing drinks are served at the poolside snack bar. For guests who wish to keep active, cycling/mountain biking and tennis are available. Guests can enjoy a wide range of indoor sports, including a gym, table tennis, badminton, billiards, darts, squash, yoga and aerobics. Various wellness options are available at the resort, including a spa, a sauna, a steam bath, a beauty salon, massage treatments and Ayurveda treatments.     Amaya Hills Hotel offers a memorable stay, especially for those who appreciate scenic beauty and a peaceful atmosphere. One of the highlights of my visit was the stunning misty sunrise—watching the soft light break through the hills while surrounded by drifting clouds was truly unforgettable and easily the standout moment of the trip.The hotel itself has a charming, traditional feel that reflects local character and heritage. While this adds to its authenticity, some areas do feel slightly dated and could benefit from a refresh. That said, the overall ambiance remains warm and inviting.We had a family room which was spacious, but it did have some issues with mosquitoes, likely due to the high ceilings allowing them to hide.The buffet, unfortunately, was a bit underwhelming. While there was a reasonable selection, the quality and variety didn’t quite meet expectations for a hotel of this standard. Additionally, although there were plenty of staff, the service didn’t always feel as attentive or efficient as it could have been.Despite these minor drawbacks, the hotel still delivers a pleasant experience overall. The breathtaking views, tranquil setting, and unique charm make it a worthwhile stay. I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars and would recommend it to travelers looking for relaxation and beautiful surroundings.
