Calafell is a nice beach town - the hotel is very basic

We stayed at Hotel Canada Palace over Easter as part of a U.S. Olympic Development Program soccer trip, so the hotel was selected for our group rather than something we chose ourselves.Calafell itself was a pleasant surprise. It’s a cute, relaxed beach town with plenty of small restaurants, cafés and convenience stores within easy walking distance. Canada place Hotel is in a great location for an easy walk to the town or the seafront. Staff were absolutely lovely - Coped with English language in the front desk and the reception staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Some of the decor in the building is a tad old fashioned but everything is kept very clean. Had to spend the night here due to American Airlines complete failure. Everyone here is someone stranded due to this or a screaming, poorly behaving, vulgarity yelling teen or a very loud preteen. The pros were hot water with a wonderful shower head and good air conditioning. The cons were no phone in the room, well-worn towels, a dispenser in the shower which did not want to dispense soap, noise from the traffic as well as other “guests”, and inexpensive decor.
