    Pretty spot/terrible food

    rating13 Jun 2025

Our room was cute enough! Service at the desk was awesome. However, it’s far from other locations and the restaurant here is absolutely awful. Inedible by all four of my group for several of the dishes. Stick to cheese plates, the lentil soup was great, and the salad. That’s it. The steak was so bad I took only half a bite. The fish was so bad both people took zero bites. And one of them loves eating the fish head. This was really bad. Also not very helpful or good service with dinner. So you are stuck here. We did receive massages and they were good. The site itself is beautiful and a nice reprieve if only you didn’t have to eat here because of its distance from town.We were on camino and stayed here June 2025.

Good hotel but wants for service-orientation

    rating03 May 2023

Pluses:--Nice setting in the middle of nature-Aqua Spa & Massage facilities -Good foodCould be better:--Attic room allocation means one has to carry luggage up one flight of stairs. One has to be be ultra-careful while moving else likely to hurt one’s head in the lower part of the attic room.-Forgot a pair of new sandals near the spa pool which were reported as lost by the hotel, after a request was sent the next day itself.-The service at the restaurant during dinner was not upto the mark. I asked for only the main course of their set menu as I was not hungry, and was charged even More than their set menu price at the end of the meal! At yeh very least they could have informed me of this anomaly when they agreed to serve only one course! -The breakfast spread was also not great compared to other similarly-priced hotels on the Galician Camino route. -In short, this was the only hotel during my Camino travel from Sarria till Santiago de Compostela where I felt a lack of service-orientation.

    Avoid pilgrims

    rating01 May 2023

Sadly having read all the reviews, I’m actually convinced the hotel does not wish to learn or improve. The rooms are very tired and basic. The spa is mostly out of order therefore you pay 10 euros but the sauna is broken. The gardens are poorly maintained so whilst there is a river at the bottom of the garden, it is not really accesible. As a camino pilgrim getting to the hotel is a nightmare so I would not recommend for anyone who has walked to Palas del Reí. The hotel does not offer transfers and it is overpriced.

COMPLAINS FORMS FOR THE VISITORS WERE FORBIDDEN BY A RECEPCIONIST

    rating19 Aug 2018

The other day they have changed the timetable of the termal spa to limit and reduce the youth entrance from 16.30 to 18.30, when usually babies and young people are sleeping or rest. They do not like of family tourism. Also one of the recepcionists said to us that it was not obligation of the hotel-spa give complaim forms for visitors... Something lie and without a good manner and hospitality. I do not recommend more this spa-hotel because it is an irresponsible and unsustainable social project. During my brief stay several peopel go out of the bar because after 10 minutes nobody was and were there for serving drinks. eCommerce_OCA, Gerente at Hotel Balneario Rio Pambre, responded to this review Dear Mr. Pereiro,The opening hours of the pool for children is from 10-12am and from 04:30 - 06:30pm, each day: 4 hours from the total 8 hours that the pool is open. We are happy to receive families in our facilities, that's why we dedicate 4 hours a day to enjoy the circuit with children, and another 4 hours for those who wish to do so in a quieter environment, we regret that this schedule does not satisfy you.At reception you can request for complaint sheets without any problem, for this, the receptionist should download it from the website of the Galician Tourism Agency and provide it to you, but do not have them printed: this is how the Galician Agency has stipulated to do that.We apologize for your wait in the bar, we will strive to be more agile in that service. We remain at your disposal for any queries, and we appreciate your effort to share your comments with other users in social media in order to help us improve. The Management

Good hotel but dont stay here without your own transport

    rating23 Sept 2017

This hotel is in a quiet spot and provides good amenity. Rooms are a good size and food is good. However we were with a group of 12 doing the Camino and had major problems getting to and from the hotel. The hotel was supposed to arrange a pick up for us from Palas de Rey but when we rang them we were directed to get a taxi from the rank. Took us over a half hr to find the rank and when we got there, were no taxis (the town only has 2 apparently!). Once one finally arrived it took some time to ferry us all to the hotel which is remote and 7km away. That evening we asked the hotel to book us the 2 taxis for the next morning only to find the next morning to be told none had been booked. None were available and we would just have to wait. There was no apology for the error in the hotel not booking out taxis and nor did they seem to care. Consequently we all had to walk back to the Camino. How is this hotel to attract peregrinos when they are so far off the Camino yet seem not care assisting with transport? (other accommodation places on the Camino provide free transfers using their own vehicles). Jorge L, Director de Relaciones Públicas at Hotel Balneario Rio Pambre, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to comment on our establishment. We are gratified that your stay with us has been satisfactory valuing our rooms and our foodOur location in Sambreixo is motivated by the location of the mineral-medicinal thermal springs that make up the reason for our spa, which allows us to provide a service of thermal pools and techniques that we gladly put at the disposal of the pilgrims who choose this option within of its way towards Santiago. Access from Palas de Rei (8 km) is done by taxi service, which in the case of the Camino de Santiago is included in the package without cost to the user (not applicable in other rates). The taxi service in Palas may be deficient in certain seasons of the year with high demand of pilgrims for the service, a matter for which we are demanding in the concello an increase of taxi licenses that allow to have a better service in the municipality. The possibility that we are told to do the transport with own vehicles is not allowed by the Spanish legislation of passenger transport, and this type of service can only be done in vehicles licensed for it.From our establishment the road can be resumed in Casanova, only 2.8 km, facilitating the continuation of this stageWe hope to have your presence with us again during the next visits in the area.Yours sincerely
