  Lovely apartment hotel but could be better

  This hotel has potential but leaves a lot to be desired. Travelling with a 3 and 18m old.Accommodation - not really suitable for a young family. There was just enough room for our bed and a cot, meaning our 3 year old would have been on a sofa bed by the easily opened patio door.Power cuts / wifi drop outs which were never resolved.Cots not comfortable for kids the mattresses are like plastic changing mats.Lots of broken and loose tiles.Rooms are cleaned every other day and not to a very good standard.the timeshares opposite have some dubious guests, occasional old nudists watching the pools. Make of that what you will.Pool - freezing / salt water. Kids pool handy but just a small square. They decided to do their maintenance in the day so a few days of strong paint fumes (why not do this at night seeing as everything is closed?)Staff - majority are miserable, borderline rude/hostile and sometimes arguing with each other which lets the others down as the younger girls are generally very friendly and polite.Gym is good, equipment a bit dated but better than most hotel gyms. Padel / gym / lane swimming / soft play / bowling all utilised by locals, feels a bit like you're intruding as a hotel guest.Soft play - this is more of a creche service. Adults are not allowed to stay with kids older than 3 and kids younger than 6 only have access to a couple of bits of it. We used it twice in 10 days.Food - very limited and hardly changes. Just enough to get by.Entertainment - absolutely zero entertainment during the day as advertised or in the evening the entire 10 nights we were there. The bar doesnt even open at night and the wifi is unreliable so bring games/content on devices if staying in.Location - it is a 25 minute walk to the heart of teguise which has a lot more going on. Again there is just enough to get by with some bars/shops but the nicer ones are in the centre.Overall felt a bit mis-sold and very underwhelmed with this one. Looking around sometimes you felt like you were in a decent place but there were just too many negatives.   Not what we were expecting

  Just back from 4  nights at Santa Rosa myself and my 18yr old. Was really looking forward to this short break away and from all I had seen when booking this place was going to be great.Arrived and on the walk to our apartment no 1060, we noticed that it was very quiet at around 9pm and was not very well lit. In the apartment first thing we had an issue with was the door, it was a sliding one. We couldnt get it to lock when in the apartment. Maintenance came out and said that nothing was wrong, it was safety, that it doesnt open from the outside but will from the inside and when you leave, make sure the handle has been pulled down from the inside for the door to lock outside. Personally this did not feel safe at all to me and I was on edge all night every night.We had a 2 bed apartment nice and spacious. Both rooms had 2 single beds in them. The room I had myself had one bed that was damp and the sheets smelt of damp and the other torn and freyed sheets on. The beds are memory foam mattress and pillow. If this is great for you, you will sleep fine.Next morning in the light this 'superior' apartment was not ticking the boxes. There had been a repaint and this could be seen because it was an awful job. Paint on the tiles, hair dryer, down the door in the bathroomdrips on the curtains in the other rooms. The shower heads, yes plural as there is a waterfall head that certainly didnt get used by us, was limescaled/rusty and the edges of the mirror were worn back (you can see from the photos). We did inform reception that the shower was actually leaking. This was not done while we were there, but im hoping that the state of the shower heads will be seen and changed. The hob in the kitchen needed replacing. No sockets in the kitchen to plug in the kettle and toaster. The fridge has a small freezer compartment. Outside there was no privacy at all from people passing by or the next apartment. This wasn't the case with all appartments. A table, 4 chairs and 4 sun loungers are provided along with an airer attached to the wall. Photos shown what utensils were provided should you be self catering.The safe is €3.20 a day to use. The plug sockets some are eu 2pin but some are upgraded to have the 2pin, USB and USB C ports.*One thing needed to be taken into consideration on these 'bungalow' apartments, us that night or day there is a what I can only think is part of the water heating system. There looked to be one on the roof of each set of bungalows. Now these when they click on are very loud, so much so they woke me through the night and you noticed the noise in the day as well even sitting out on the terrace. The walls are also very thin. I heard everything from the apartment next door, including when he was using the bathroom.The apartment was pretty clean along with all surrounding areas and reception and housekeeping, reception team and maintenence are all very friendly and pleasant.The pool bar does ok food in the day.We never went to breakfast and had a look on our last night at the buffet and walked out. Certainly not a large buffet and looks very different to what is seen on travel sites. Breakfast should you go is €10 and dinner €18.The pool is freezing. The hottest day we were there a max of 5 people were in the pool briefly. It is heated by solar panels but theres too much water for them to keep it at a decent temperature especially with the winds.The indoor pool needs to be prebooked and a swimming cap worn.Theres a small play area for the children, bowling with a cafe and soft play and a few other activities in there plus a very small crazy golf. The complex is very quiet so if you want peace or just a base this is for you. If you are looking for any kind of entertainment, there isnt any and no bar to attend on site, once the buffet closes at 9.30pm.We asked for a late checkout which we got and cost €50. We needed to move from our apartment. We were moved to 1092 in the block. It was a one bed apartment that was clean, fresh, had nothing aging but the view from the window was a road and from the balcony off the bedroom a car park/housekeeping area. Apartment 1091 and those above also wouldve had a double view of the housekeeping area. The door lock was safe as proper doors. The issues we found here, were that you heard the toilets upstairs flush loud and clear, the room was over the laundry area which was noisy and the noise in general in the block was loud and echoed into the room.This reads like a bad review but its not its an open honest review of how we have perceived our appartment and the complex. Would we return, probably not, however the people staff and guests and the quiet are all positives. We never complained or tried to cause a fuss and get our room changed, we stayed and dealt with what we had for the short time we had.   Lovely large apartment and very clean

  Just back from our second time in these apartments. The first thing you'll see it the cleanliness and the size of your apartment. The shower is walk in and simple to work. Kitenette is very good. A bottle of water ready for you when you first arrive. We have been away over the years and stayed in a lot of hotels and apartments this definitely is 1 of the best places we've ever stayed. A 15 minute walk up to the town cetre and then a €4 cab back at night. Had a great time.   Tranquil resort for a relaxing family holiday.

  After reading some of the reviews of Santa Rosa, especially about the food, I was almost going to change our hotel for our Lanzarote holiday. I am really glad I didn't. Travelling with two young children, all I really want on a holiday is a peaceful base with enough room to enjoy a quite evening and decent sleep. Santa Rosa gave us that, with a modern, clean and spacious two bedroom apartment and patio, which overlooked the pool and garden area. If you have been on some holidays where you feel all squashed into one room, then do not fear, as these apartments are all well set out with good size bedrooms and separate living space and decent size kitchen and more of a little villa feel to them, rather than being shoved into one hotel room. They are lovely bungalows and we felt very comfortable there.The grounds were immaculately kept and the whole place was very clean, with the lovely cleaning staff coming in most days to put in fresh bedding and towels. 1006 is a great bungalow, just on the corner and was right by the park so we could sit out enjoying a coffee and watch the kids play happily in the park.Entertainment wise, there wasnt anything going on in the complex, which was a bit of a shame, but after busy days at the beach, it was nice to come back and just relax without any noise or beer crowds. Still, a local singer or something would be lovely. The children loved the softplay in the hotel and the man who worked there in the week was a star - he was lovely to the kids and played football with them. All the staff were nice and spoke good English. Reception welcoming and straightforward checking in. Bowling staff friendly too and not miserable like some reviews claim.Indoor pool was a nice addition because outdoor pool was freezing. Outdoor pool was very big to swim in however and always plenty of lounger space. You need bathing hats in indoor pool, but the friendly man on the reception desk in the gym gave us some and he was also very friendly.Food-wise, breakfasts were excellent and nice to have coffee and juice machines. Dinner was a bit limited first night but after that, was really good with nice themes - the Mexican was excellent and good to see it all being freshly cooked. Clean and tidy eating area and did not see staff clearing plates in front of guests as some reviews commented. Waiting staff are prompt and efficient, coming to take drinks orders while drinks are reasonable.Lanzarote itself is lovely and the Costa Teguise is a nice, safe family resort, but very windy. It meant that most nights we couldnt sit out and therefore a bit of enterainment would have been nice as we were a bit limited, but then for families without kids there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.Overall, a lovely holiday and thanks to the Santa Rosa staff who work so hard. Adding a few bits like maybe a waterslide, heating the pool or having more play area apparatus/splash pad would be great, but then you dont want the peaceful atmosphere to be spoiled.
