    Not quite as pictured

    rating14 Apr 2026

The hotel is in a very good location with easy access to the bus station and the center of Haro. A warm reception in a lovely building with a large central atrium looked very promising. We were informed that there were ongoing renovations being carried out but would not affect evening or early morning hours. The room was adequate but disappointing and did not match the description of a "completely renovated" hotel hence our expectations on booking it. The carpets were worn through to the backing in some instances. Although clean the rooms appearance was shabby and did not match the character or description of the hotel. For a hotel of this standard we were surprised there was no coffee or tea available in the room. We did have a cappuccino in the lovely atrium area. Unfortunately the service was indifferent and the cappuccino tasted like it was from the automated coffee machine in the breakfast area. I was mildly shocked to be charged almost double what local restaurants charged for a properly made cappuccino. The buffet breakfast had a very good selection to choose from but the staff seemed to be either in training or indifferent to their customers. In fairness the hotels rates are not overly expensive and it was clean and comfortable. It has great potential once all renovations are complete and some issues are worked out. Ask for a renovated room and seek your coffee elsewhere.

    Old, But Not Charming

    rating23 Sept 2025

Our 3 night stay at Eurostar Los Augustinos was mediocre at best. On the positive side: 1. The room size was generous 2. The bed was comfortable 3. The room was quiet 4. The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. 5. Breakfast was good. Unfortunately, none of this could outweigh the depressing, dismal condition of the carpet in our room and the furnishings in the interior Courtyard. I cannot speak to rooms other than ours (Room # 205). My opinion is that it should never be used again until it has been renovated. I should also mention that contacting the hotel months in advance of our arrival, in order to correct a mistake made thru the booking agent was unacceptably complicated. My best advice would be to stay in Briones and take a taxi (or bicycle) intro Haro to visit the tasting rooms.

    Time for an upgrade

    rating22 Jun 2025

A stunning building in a great location near shops and restaurants so that’s the good news. The hotel itself is in need of an upgrade. The carpets are tired, the decor dated, wires hanging out of the ceiling, broken ceiling tiles. Service is poor, the bar is closed during the day and even getting some water is near impossible. The aircon is so old it’s completely ineffective (not great when it’s 32’C outside! Parking, if you can get it, is expensive. All in all it is time this place was refurbished.

    Better look somewhere else

    rating14 Nov 2024

We were there just one night in the 2nd week of November.1. Street parking - make sure you know the color of the parking area signs. You will need a tix between 5pm to 8pm? (Do not remember) to park areas colored in Blue, otherwise you will get a parking violation tix with 30 Euros. You have to use coins to get tix from machine near you. No cards accepted. Coins only. We checked in late and parked right in front of the hotel to check in and move luggage’s to the room and came out 15-20min later got a tix. Tix states all in Basque and Spanish but you have until midnight of the next day to pay just 6 Euros fines instead. You can pay fines at any one of machines on the street. There will be a code stated in your tix, so press the correct button to pay fine, put your code, and pay fines.2. Hotel - we get that it was off season when we stayed. Still the restaurant in the hotel was not open, main lobby’s light was off - no one was there. You will get a big old key for your room, just like old days. The room had a decent size but looked old and had stain filled carpets, and sewer stench from drainage (I think it came from the bathtub) was filled in the room when we got in and we noticed that foul smell immediately. There is a QR code at the door of mini bar fridge, but this QR code never worked to check the pricing. Walls are thin to hear voices from other rooms. It was by far the worst hotel experience during our trip. This hotel needs extensive renovations of the guest rooms and I would recommend staying somewhere else, unless you have to stay in Haro and no other hotels in Haro are available. We stayed at Casa Robla day before and I highly recommend staying there instead.

Not a 4 star & has gone downhill!!!

    rating17 Oct 2024

The location of Augustinos is compelling, however, my last stay there was very poor. First, I wrote 4 emails over 6 months and NONE were answered. Also, this is more like a 2 star hotel in that there is no service. For example, I wrote in advance about an airport transfer to Bilbao. After 4 attempts (the last one marked urgent) I received a response saying the hotel did not arrange for taxis and I would have to find my own. HUH?At checkin, there was only 1 person at the desk and there were no bellmen. As we had been traveling for >6 weeks we had a lot of luggage. No bellmen at a 6:45pm checkin? Unheard of at a 4 star!NOT RECOMMENDED. Seems the change from private ownership to the chain of Euro star hotels has dragged down this former gem. The lovely young woman at the front desk tried very hard, however, her hands were tied with new corporate policies.
