The historical hotel is located in the town of Alarcón, surrounded by the Rio Júcar, forming a peninsula. The nearby towns of interest to tourists are San Clemente (50 km), Belmonte (75 km) and Cuenca (85 km). Wow wow wow !!!!! One of the most stunning castles that I have ever seen, is hidden in Spain. Parador de Alarcón is just amazing and to be able to have a room, in the tower section, for 2 nights, has been an incredible experience :) The staff here has been amazing and there's plenty of hiking areas around and wineries. The Parador was well signposted and there was a large car park in front of the building. Check in was quick and pleasant and we had two rooms overlooking the Torre de los Alarconcillos. The rooms were a great size and wifi worked well. The downsides were eating in Alarcon - even at 9PM the only restaurant we saw open was the Parador itself although that didn't start serving food until 8:30PM. Fantastic historic building beautifully refurbished with great style to combine the charm of History (you have your breakfast in the old Refectory with large tapestries and a view, plus the option to go out in summer into the quiet courtyards) with all modern comforts. Alarcon is an absolutely amazing village, almost totally surrounded by the Rio Jucar and outlying fortifications. Imensely photogenic.
