I have stayed at Hotel Santemar 6 times over the past 3 years while taking solo trips to the area. Location is perfect as I enjoy swimming and this hotel is right beside the beaches of El Sardinero. There are many cafes and restaurants close by, as well as a supermarket. Hotel rooms and bathrooms are large and very tastefully decorated. Everything is spotlessly clean. The room was clean and well presented, although the décor is beginning to feel rather dated and could certainly benefit from some refurbishment.Breakfast was one of the highlights of our stay. We have stayed in this hotel many times. The staff as always on reception are excellent, such great service. The secure hotel car park and lots of room is a bonus, as so convenient and easy to get in and out of. Our bedroom was spotless, quiet and the beds are so very comfy. The hotel was very welcoming and comfortable.We went for a drink in the bar and to look at the evening menu. We were booked in as half board.As soon as we mentioned this in the bar we were told, by who I presume, was the restaurant manager, that we had to choose from a very different menu. The menu we were given was obviously a very small choice of food and mainly fish, no vegetarian option.
