Location

This hotel is set in the Gredos mountain range, nestled among crystalline waters, jutting rocks and luxuriant green pine groves. Its location, on El Alto del Risquillo, offers a privileged viewpoint over the Tormes valley, the Gredos massif and the Piedrahita and Béjar mountain ranges. This all combines to make the hotel an ideal base for excursions into the surrounding countryside. It is 60 km from Ávila, where the nearest bus and train stations can be found, and 170 km from Madrid. The centre of Navarredonda de Gredos is just 2 km from Parador. There guests will find a variety of bars. There are various restaurants located just a 10-minute drive away. The nearest bus stop is directly at the hotel. The river Tormes is a 30-minute walk away. Parque Regional Sierra de Gredos and Puerto del Pico/Calzada Romana are both about a 15-minute drive away, while Cuevas del Águila and Arenas de San Pedro are both about 45 min away.

    One of the receptionists was less than helpful given that 3 of our party are Amigos of Paradores and the food during dinner was disappointing particularly the bland and stodgy vegetable cannelloni. Breakfast was good, as always with Paradores but a bit hectic. It felt too much like a canteen during dinner and breakfast. Room was spacious and comfortable.     Lovely setting in stunning countryside with good food & good service. All round excellent stay & we will definitely be back, takes a little effort to reach the hotel, as a bit off the beaten track, but really well worth it.     The site is excellent—the parador interesting because of historical and landscape reasons. But we felt the whole service machinery was understaffed. The menu items are very scarce as there were served dishes precooked microwave heated before served. At the bar they served us a dish of Iberian ham which was half made of grease or fat. To complain about this was useless, nobody seems to care of customers' complaints.
