Lovely, quality Parador high in the hills
The Gredos Parador was the first one to open in 1928, and the older rooms of the hotel have historical significance. Like all Paradors it offers quality accommodation, some with lovely views of the mountains.The provides a handy guide to a few walks starting from, or from near, the hotel.The welcome and service throughout was excellent. Average service and average evening meal rescued by good breakfast and comfortable room
One of the receptionists was less than helpful given that 3 of our party are Amigos of Paradores and the food during dinner was disappointing particularly the bland and stodgy vegetable cannelloni. Breakfast was good, as always with Paradores but a bit hectic. It felt too much like a canteen during dinner and breakfast. Room was spacious and comfortable. Fantastic setting & service
Lovely setting in stunning countryside with good food & good service. All round excellent stay & we will definitely be back, takes a little effort to reach the hotel, as a bit off the beaten track, but really well worth it. The site is excellent—the parador interesting because of historical and landscape reasons. But we felt the whole service machinery was understaffed. The menu items are very scarce as there were served dishes precooked microwave heated before served. At the bar they served us a dish of Iberian ham which was half made of grease or fat.
