  The worst of 3 hotels in Middletown, DE

  In Middletown, there are 3 hotels worth staying at. This time I stayed at the Hampton Inn. -the reception staff, except for 1 person in particular, was indifferent, did not raise their eyes to greet or acknowledge us. Not a good part of the stay over Christmas, for a week.-breakfast, the coffee is awful. *the coffee at Holiday Inn Express across town is excellent. The side dishes at breakfast were fine, cereals, fruits, hard boiled eggs and more, BUT the scrambled eggs are not good, and what ever the bacon really is (and I do not think it is bacon), you can see thru it and snap it half with your fingers in every slice.-housekeeping is done every other day. On the cleaning day, I had to get toilet paper and tissues, because they were not replenished. h way the bed was made made it appear that someone had used the pillows (I hope not)-he hotel is in a safe, easily accessible area. The building itself appears clean, except the inside of the elevators which have grafitti on them (that should be repainted or but a different covering on the door, an easy fix that would keep it looking like a slum hotel)The end result of the 2 stays we had in December and January here, is that we will stay somewhere on the next trip.   Bed Bugs

  Most everything was nice: breakfast, staff, tv, etc. The reason for the 1 star is we found bed bugs our 4th night. We both got bug bites a couple nights in which we assumed were spider bites. But then we woke up in the middle of the night to bed bugs in the bed one of us was sleeping in. They tried to book us another room, but we decided to pack up and leave. I sincerely hope they do not use that room until they get a new mattress and exterminate.   Spent 6 nights here visiting family in Middletown. The staff was truly some of the nicest hotel staff I have dealt with. From the night we checked in to the morning we checked out, they were courteous, helpful and checked on our stay. Hotel was very clean, breakfast was good as was the coffee. Would definitely stay here again.   Updated hotel close to the action in Newport

  Nice staff. decent breakfast, but hop over to Starbucks or DD for much better coffee. Toilet low, tub too high to step in & very slippery. I suggest they install grab bars, as even the youngest in our group found it a bit hazardous. Very, very clean. Decent sized room. Frig small & clumsy-no freezer section.
