Charming Boutique Hotel in a Great Location

Hernan Cortes is a beautiful hotel in a great location in Gijon with a boutique feel. The nearby public parking was easy to use and not too expensive (relative to hotel parking in other locations). The rooms were clean and spacious and we had a nice view of the plaza below. Needs some updates.

I’m sure this once earned 4stars, but those days are over. The carpets are worn out and tired looking being completely threadbare at the room doorways. There isn’t a USB port to be found, nor an outlet in the bathroom for a hairdryer or shaver. No face cloths provided. No a/c in the bathroom and the only window in it directly faces the sun with no blackout curtain so it is roasting hot. We have to… I’m sure this once earned 4stars, but those days are over. Grand old hotel in a central location. Convenient to all the sites we were interested in. The staff were very helpful. This Hotel is centrally located in Gijón. The room was very confortable and clean. The Port and beaches, restaurants, shops, etc. are at walking distance.
