The hotel is situated in the Lisbon, Cascais, Sintra tourism triangle, close to the western-most point of the European Continent (Cabo da Roca) ‘where the land ends and the sea begins’. Looking out over the Guincho Beach onto the Atlantic Ocean, the hotel offers breathtaking views and fresh air. The bright sunshine is tempered by refreshing breezes from the Sintra hills. Links to public transport can be found in the immediate vicinity. Cascais is just 7 km away. I am sure that back in the past this was a "go to" destination ( judging by all the photos in the foyer) - but that was well in the past. Although adequate the hotel just looks and feels incredibly tired and it seems no money has been spent on it for years. The location is good, if you want a beach nearby, but as a result the elements are quite cruel to the infrastructure. I stayed at the Muchaxo with my mother, and we can’t stop raving about our experience there! Ricardo, a hotel director, introduced himself on our first day, and went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. His consideration and customer service was outstanding. The location is wonderful ,right on the beach. Staff was very accommodating..we arrived very early but our room was ready. No frills but clean and comfortable. On site restaurant. Friendly hotel, comfy, near the beach and our room had great views of the beach/ocean, only no water tap outside to wipe sand of your feet. Built originally in 1945 and extended in 1960's. Really different interior. Original blend with modern portugese architecture. Rooms really modern with everything you need. Staff cannot do enough for you. So helpful. Bar food just what you want. Restaurant food was delightful. Really really good chef. Scenery was mind blowing.
