    Corporate Warning: Predatory "Double-Dipping"

    rating03 Mar 2026

I attended the euroPLX 90 summit at Hotel Cascais Miragem and experienced a shocking lack of professional ethics from management.Due to a duplicate booking error, I was unknowingly booked at two hotels. On the first morning of the event, while I was physically at the Miragem for the summit, the hotel emailed me to say they expected me the night before. I immediately went to the lobby to resolve the administrative error in person.Despite my physical presence and the hotel's own admission that they were "fully booked" (meaning they suffered no loss and likely resold the room), management insisted on charging me a 100% "No-Show" penalty. I offered several "middle ground" solutions, including a credit voucher or 50% penalty, which were all flatly rejected by the management, Deputy Financial Manager cc'ed.For a 5-star hotel to "double-dip" collecting payment from a walk-in guest while extracting a full penalty from a delegate standing in their lobby is definaltely predatory.

    Poor guest experiece

    rating30 Nov 2025

First the good: the location, the spa operated by holmes place, the gym operated by holmes place, the water loungeThe bad: room are great but because of the design of the hotel, standard rooms barely get direct sun. From the outside this does not seem possible, but the privacy partitions do block both the sum and most of the sea view. I received a stern no when i asked to move. I was there to recharge, use the spa, gym, water amenities. I didn't want to think about food, so I ordered full board expecting plenty of healthy options (given the name of the hotel). This is not the case. The breakfast is buffet with enough options, but the lunch and dinner menu for full-board guests is a standard three course meal, with limited choices if all well prepared to the standard of a 5 star (nothing to complain about the food, just not health focused). Sure you can negotiate everyday to change something to a much cheaper salad, but 1) you don't get your ROI on what you paid for 2) They are not setup for it.The ugly: I had a laser treatment close by that left my face quite red and swollen. So one day I called to ask if my breakfast (included) could be delivered to my room, and explained the situation, expecting them to charge for the cutlery and service etc. I got another stern no telling me I would have to pay for the breakfast. So no, I do not recommend the Mirage. They are not polite. And I will never book directly to support a hotel. I am convinced they would be more polite if I had booked through booking.com or others. Perfectly ok but nothing special

    rating12 Nov 2025

Stayed here by myself while my son was at a football camp nearby. Very, very corporatey. Huge, cavernous reception area with perfunctory receptionists. Room was literally fine. Everything ok but no touches of luxury or particular comfort. Slightly old fashioned style. Balcony had a nice view but again was quite bare. The barman in the night bar was exceptionally good and remembered my drink each night. That said, the bar area has zero atmosphere except for one night when there were conference drinks and that night it was horrendously loud. Breakfast was ok. Decent made to order omelettes but nothing changed an iota from day to the next. Fine but uninspiring.Went with my son to the indoor pool one night which was actually the best thing about the hotel. Beautiful pools with great lighting and not many people using. On our final weekend my wife and daughter joined and I moved to the Palacio Estoril. Not even a conversation about which is better. The Palacio is a good couple of levels above. So nothing whatsoever terrible about the Miragem and location is ok, but it’s certainly not one to rave about. The view and location would be enough to lure me back here again The room was fine and the bed was comfortable The buffet breakfast offered many options and the food was good The staff was friendly and helpful It’s a beautiful seaside walk into town With all of that said, I can’t help but feel that this 5 star hotel skimps on things here and there and skates by with the 5 star rating based on view, location and amenities José Branco, Diretor-Geral at Hotel Cascais Miragem Health & Spa, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for choosing Hotel Cascais Miragem and for sharing your experience with us and other travelers! We are pleased to know that you have enjoyed your stay with us and that it met your expectations!Thank you for your words not only about our staff but also the Hotel itself.Your feedback is very important and it will be taken into consideration, as it helps us to improve so that next time we're up to your expectations!Looking forward for the opportunity to welcome you back, in a future visit to Cascais!Kind Regards, José BrancoGeneral Manager

Unpleasant experience with elderly disabled traveller

    rating02 Oct 2025

It is a decent enough slightly dated hotel. Staff working in the dining areas were super. The guys working reception were indifferent and slightly rude. We spent 4000 euros for 5 nights ( my elderly mum and I) and we were not even asked if we had a good time. As for asking for a slightly delayed checkout, I was told different times by different men and that I had been given ‘an extra half hour as it was’. I won’t bore with the unpleasant retrieval of my personal belongings from a locker to which they kept the key as I dragged my mum around the hotel. Someone shouted through the locked door to see their manager. The indifferent man on reception couldn’t have cared less that they’d stuffed a delicate parcel into my bag. There weee no arrangements to change just this miserable guy on reception who doesn’t know what it’s like to be 82 and need assistance. Thanks to the lovely people who weee kind to my mum and maybe try retraining the men on reception. José Branco, Diretor-Geral at Hotel Cascais Miragem Health & Spa, responded to this review Dear Guest Thank you very much for your preference in staying with us and thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Hotel.I am very sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations and I try«ully appologise because this is not the way we normally work nor it is up to our standards of service.I will take all the necessary actions to train and make sure that these sitautions will not happen again.Thanking you for your preference and support and looking forward to welcoming you again soon.Kindest regardsJosé BrancoGeneral ManagerHotel Cascais Miragem
