This hotel occupies a former nunnery from the early 19th century outside the walls of Óbidos. Through its tasteful remodelling, the original character has been retained, although with all the features that a modern traveller would require. The town centre can be reached in a few minutes on foot and the airport is located around 75 km away.

The hotel was built in 1830. Guests have a choice of 30 non-smoking rooms. English-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are happy to answer any questions. A baggage storage service and a safe are available. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. Children can enjoy the playground. Additional amenities include a TV room and a playroom. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Other services include medical assistance, room service and a laundry service. Complimentary newspapers are available. A fax machine is available for guests' business needs.

What a wonderful, atmospheric place. Easy to find and the street parking wasn't too tricky, just a short walk up to the gate to the town. It was a great experience starting with the warm welcome right through to the delicious breakfast.Their restaurant was closed that evening, so, I'm afraid I'm unable to review it but their standards for everything else are very high.What a wonderful, atmospheric place. I've read about this hotel many times. So purposely made a side trip to stay here.It did not disappoint. The books, libraries made this one of the most unique hotels I've stayed in. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Amazing location - a few steps outside the castle wall. Highly recommend the restaurant/dinner and breakfast (home made pastries!) Definitely recommend this for all book lovers or… I've read about this hotel many times. So purposely made a side trip to stay here.It did not disappoint.
