Satisfactory hotel but overpriced for the region
A convenient hotel for the Conimbriga Roman ruins and if you don't want the hassle of driving in or near Coimbra. Comfortable enough with spa facilities that they kept trying to impress on us (we are not spa people). The room was clean and comfortable but while complimentary red wine (which we don't drink), water and biscuits were provided, no kettle or tea and coffee facilities. Overall good but a few improvements needed.
We stayed here for 1 night whilst walking the Camino. The room was a little dated but was clean and comfortable. The woman on reception when we checked in was a little frosty but the woman on reception when we checked out was absolutely lovely and cheerful! The food in the rest was excellent and very good value, and breakfast was also very good! There were quite a lot of children around the hotel… We stayed here for 1 night whilst walking the Camino. They need more staff but don't let that put you off!
We had 2 nights here as part of our tour. We checked into the hotel mid afternoon and later tried to make a reservation for dinner for 2 people for 7.30. We were told that was not possible as the restaurant was full and we would have to go elsewhere in the town and there were plenty of places to eat. Quiet refuge, great food!
Located outside of Coimbra, this is a lovely hotel. The views over the countryside are beautiful. Solar panels heat the indoor pool and the grounds have some sculptures.The rooms are comfortable with good beds and nice furnishings.The food and wine were excellent, gracious serving staff.
