    Disappointed

    rating14 Jan 2026

We didn't have the best experience, the room wasn't well cleaned when we arrived and while we stayed (for example dirty glasses weren't taken from one day to another after the room was cleaned). Pillows and mattresses didn't allow us to rest properly and due to bad isolation, light (seen through the door) and noise from the hotel gets in the room. Hotel de Moura, Serviços ao cliente/atendimento at Hotel de Moura, responded to this review Dear Mrs. Joana, we appreciate you taking the time to provide us with such detailed feedback about your stay. We are very sorry to hear that several things throughout your stay did not meet your expectations. Please note that this information has been passed on to our concerned staff. We hope to welcome you back in the near future, and if there is something that we can do for you, please let us know! Best regards, Hotel de Moura.

    STAY WELL AWAY!!

    rating08 Aug 2025

Terrible hotel. Lobby smelled of sewage from the bathrooms on that level. Photos are very misleading, there are no romantic "gardens" - the photos are in fact the public square fronting the building. At the back of the hotel there was a strip of land which looked like the back of a farm / dump yard filled with rubbish and unkept land which leads you to a tank, which is meant to be the pool, held together by pieces of timber to get up to. Bedrooms and bathrooms are very dated and of poor standard for the price charged.Totally shocked this is even suitable as tourist accommodation. Customer service is also appalling. Hotel de Moura, Serviços ao cliente/atendimento at Hotel de Moura, responded to this review Dear Mr. Maximilian, we are very sorry to hear that several aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. Photographs of all areas of the hotel can be viewed on all internet platforms and the garden is never mentioned as belonging to the hotel. We are surprised by your comment, since, after checking in, you went to the reception five minutes later saying that you were leaving because you were not feeling well, and our colleague tried to help you as best she could. We are even more surprised to find that you stayed in one of our most historic and most requested rooms! We are sorry that this is your position, as you are not entitled to a refund for a non-refundable booking, the terms and conditions of which you agreed to, even so, we still give you the option to change the dates of your booking. Before you came you said to us “Please can we have a reply asap. We will otherwise leave a negative review on all platforms.” However, we assure you that we will forward your comments to our management team for review in order to explore and implement improvements. Best regards, Hotel de Moura.

    No improvement

    rating16 Jul 2025

Being a long time customer I do think that is no improvement for the customer and the prices keep rising…There’s no fridge or minibar in the room when is so hot .Also should have a kettle to make tea or coffee also would be great if you have at the list a bottle of water as welcome…Is no improvement in the breakfast is one of the poorest breakfast of all the hotels I stay ..Is no fried eggs or sausages ,only boiled eggs,is no variety and is always the same provided ,is no improvement at all… Hotel de Moura, Serviços ao cliente/atendimento at Hotel de Moura, responded to this review Dear Mr. Peter, we appreciate you taking the time to provide us feedback about your stay. We are very sorry to hear that several things throughout your stay did not meet your expectations. First of all, we'd like to say that some of the points you mention are facilities you'll find in hotels with a higher rating than ours. The services we provide are detailed on any of the sales platforms. Please note that this information has been passed on to our concerned staff. We hope to welcome you back in the near future, and if there is something that we can do for you, please let us know! Best regards, Hotel de Moura.

    Good value

    rating14 May 2025

Impressively ornate frontage to this ex convent, fronting a quiet, tree-lined square not far from the town centre. Choice of shops/restaurants nearby. The interior also benefits from a pleasant and relaxed feeling of space and calm amongst nice, period detailing. Friendly and helpful welcome from the girls at reception. Directed via stairs (no lift- be aware if carrying heavy baggage) to our superior room on the second floor, which lived up to its billing in many respects- large, high ceiling, lovely big comfy bed, private terrace, reasonable storage, very clean and nicely presented with large en suite. Though a fridge or mini bar would have been useful. Good, all you can eat, predominantly continental style breakfast with pleasant staff. There is a bar but it was never staffed when we might have wanted to use it. Useful rear car park, accessed via side street. Just one or two shabby touches let it down a bit, eg exterior redecoration is well overdue, the (lack of ) surfacing to the rear car park not only makes a poor impression but presents a trip hazard, transfers surface dirt to luggage and shoes, which guests then cannot help but transfer inside, the en suite was only basically equipped and its lack of almost any ventilation encouraged "drainage" smells. However we enjoyed our 3 night stay, thought the hotel very good value and on that basis give it four rather than three stars. Hotel de Moura, Serviços ao cliente/atendimento at Hotel de Moura, responded to this review Dear Guest, thank you very much for taking your time to post such a nice review about your stay! We are truly delighted to know that you enjoyed your experience with us, specially the location, decoration and the room. Not a good experience

    rating20 Oct 2024

Lovely, charming old building with an interesting and artistic interior. My wife wanted to stay here as it is a former convent. But it is rough around the edges. There is no attention to the fine details, particularly the interior of the rooms. Our room was large, with a nice private balcony attached looking out onto an interior courtyard. But both the key lock to the balcony door, and the sliding bolt at the top of the balcony door were broken or inoperable for different reasons. So the door could not be secured. After going out for a stroll, we returned to find the balcony door - which was closed upon leaving - closed, but not locked - was open.Nothing was missing from our room, but it was unnerving. Our private balcony could be accessed from a public balcony - which I must admit, we never saw anyone on (but it was still accessible to the public) - with a simple climb and step. The receptionist came to our room straight away and I demonstrated the unsecure door, the faulty security mechanisms, and stated my concern at being able to sleep soundly in this situation. She went away, but did not return with a response. I returned to reception later and was told that it would be looked at tomorrow. This was not good enough. Eventually, after I spoke to another employee, who made a swift phone call, a handyman appeared as we were getting ready to go out for our evening meal, and made a temporary repair job to effect a secure sliding bolt. The hotel was also a little noisy at times, late at night. The corridors echoed enormously and the guest room doors could not be closed quietly from the outside as the handles would not turn, so they had to be slammed shut. The hotel seemed to be acting as board and lodging to a large number of youths belonging to the local football academy. They seemed to form the bulk of its guests. This was a little unexpected. Overall, an interesting building, a little neglected and run down, with staff who were maybe that not motivated.
