    Working at Asuncion

    rating30 May 2025

I spent 10 nights with the FIFA workforce for the 75th FIFA Congress. The service and food were pretty good, even though they always overcooked my beef, even when ordering blue. Employees were always kind and well educated. The laundry service was great. The bathtub is hazardous; it is extremely slippery, and the bathroom could have better light. Overall, it was a great experience. The spa was nice, and the terrace was our favorite place to hang out with colleagues.

No way is this a top 10 in Asuncion!

    rating03 May 2025

For our final night in Asuncion, I was looking for something with good reviews and close to the airport given our 6 am departure time. Esplendor was on the pricier side but ticked the boxes on paper, including #6 of all hotels in Asuncion on Tripadvisor based on traveler ranking. This one was a HUGE miss. There is no way this hotel should even be in the top 20. Room was awful as was the bathroom. It just had a 70's cement prison feel to it. You could only run the sink water for a few seconds or else it would overflow. Same cheap old flooring as other budget hotels in Paraguay. Shower / tub with half wall makes a mess. No counter space. Very dark without central light switches (8 different lamp switches). Outlets in strange places. Parking is below the hotel and extremely tight, not to mention not enough room for two cars to get by each other. Reception / front desk had no decor or personailty, consistent with the room. I'm still mad I booked this hotel (and spent $150). Quality of the room closer to a $50 price point. Pictures on website do not represent reality...

    Good stay

    rating14 Nov 2024

Stayed for a few nights during a business trip. Had a room on a high floor which was nice and had an open view. Bed was OK, pillows could be better for sure. Housekeeping missed my room one day. Nice pool with a view of the city, gym was not well equipped. OK for a short stay

    Outstanding stay

We did an excellent choice with this hotel in our stay in Asunción, Paraguay. The staff is very friendly and was always ready to solve our questions about the city and touristic places to visit. The hotel restaurant serves excellent food and the service is very good. The breakfasts have a fairly good selection of food,

Good, But Could Use Some Improvement

    rating09 Oct 2022

Let me start with the pros about this hotel. It is in a very good and secure location near restaurants and shopping. The rooms are spacious and clean and the beds are very comfortable. The staff is friendly and accommodating. There is a nice swimming pool on the top floor and a fairly well-equipped gym as well. There is a spa where you can get a good massage for a reasonable price. The hotel restaurant, Tacuare’e, serves excellent food and the service is top notch. The breakfasts have a fairly good selection of food, but it literally never changes. It is the same thing every day. It would have been nice to have a change since we were there for three weeks. The coffee is awful and you are charged extra for cappuccino, etc. Now let me talk a little about some of the cons. This is what I would call a minimalist hotel and I really should write minimalist in capital letters. The lobby is plain and boring and the rest of the hotel follows its example. The walls are white and literally devoid of any color or decorations of any kind – no pictures, nothing. That goes for the rooms as well. There is nowhere comfortable to sit in the lobby either. They have what looks like oversized mattresses that rest on the floor and are up against the wall, but there are no back rests. They look cheap and believe me, they are uncomfortable. Speaking of uncomfortable, the rooms have very little in the way of furniture – a small desk with a chair and another chair that is not only hard, but extremely uncomfortable. The closets are small with very little shelf space and there were only 4 clothes hangers. There were no drawers to store clothing. There was nowhere to place luggage and we came with a lot. Although the bathroom was clean, it smelled. It was the first thing we noticed each time we came into our room. Although the hotel tries to be accommodating, it needs significant improvement. We often had to ask multiple times for things we needed before they finally appeared in our room: extra hangers, something to put our luggage on, etc. Housekeeping was often slow and our room was not cleaned two times during our stay. And finally, according to the rules for 4-star hotels, one bottle of water per guest should be provided free of charge. The only water was in the minibar and we were charged for it. Although we enjoyed our stay at the hotel, we probably won’t be going back. There are other more attractive options in the area.
