Good location near Oslo city centre

I wanted to stay as centrally as possible without breaking the bank (as Oslo hotels can be a little pricey) and this fit the bill.There is a tram stop within a minute or twos walk, that just a few stops away from the central square at Oslo S.We had a great nights sleep in their super comfy beds, and would definitely recommend.

I chose this hotel for a 3-night break based on price and location. Scandic is a chain of hotels in Scandinavia, with several in Oslo, and I would happily stay with them again and recommend them to others. The staff were helpful and friendly, and breakfast was excellent.

Hotel rebooked into another hotel 37km away with no advanced warning,

I arrived at my hotel to only to be told that my booking in the hotel had been cancelled and they had rebooked me into their hotel at the airport (which i had just arrived from). I had not been pre-informed of this and neither had my booking agent.The airport is some 37km from where I should have been staying within easy walking distance of most places I wanted to visit.Behing at the airport completely ruined my holiday costing me a lot of time and money having to travel to and from the airport.My booking agent told me that if they had been aware they would have given me the option to cancel the holiday (which is what I would have done).No one from the Hotel said sorry for this. All I got from the guy at reception when I atttempted to check in was that it was not his fault as he didn't cancel my booking.My booking agent did manage at least to get me into another hotel for the last 2 days of the holiday. But my experience in Oslo was pretty much soured by then.

A Busy But Basic Stay Near Central Oslo

I spent two nights at Scandic St. Olavs plass in November 2025 during a company conference and left with mixed feelings. Overall, I’d rate the stay 3 out of 5: functional and fairly priced, but hectic and a bit too basic for anything beyond a simple city stay. The location is central enough for exploring Oslo, in a quiet neighborhood just off the city center. However, if you arrive by train from the airport, it’s a fairly long walk from Oslo Central Station, especially with luggage. On the plus side, there’s convenient basement parking directly under the hotel.My room, no. 217, had classic Scandic-style décor – as you can see in my photos – a bit worn around the edges but kept clean. The bathroom was simple, yet the underfloor heating worked well and made mornings more pleasant. The bed was comfortable, and despite being on the second floor, there was surprisingly little street noise.Check-in was fast and efficient, handled by a Norwegian-speaking receptionist who got me to my room in minutes. The lobby area itself feels cramped, though, and quickly becomes congested when groups arrive. Our conference room, by contrast, was a strong point: spacious, with good ventilation that held up even after a long day with many people in the room.Food and beverage were the biggest disappointment. Lunch was chaotic and crowded, with too many guests for a limited selection of hot and cold dishes, all presented in a very basic way. It felt more like a canteen than a conference hotel. Breakfast offered a better and broader spread, closer to what I’d expect from Scandic. Very good Scandic breakfasts

This hotel must be very popular because there were so many guests this weekend! Rooms were fine and quiet, bathrooms small but functional. bedes were very fine. Reception quick and helpsome.
