Great place for both work and relaxation

    rating18 Aug 2025

I had the pleasure of staying at Hardangerfjord Hotel for one night in August 2025, arranging a leadership gathering for my team. This hotel exceeded my expectations in almost every way – from the location to the service – and I would happily return, both for business and leisure. The setting is stunning, right by the Hardangerfjord with view towards Folgefonna glacier. There’s free parking right outside, including charging stations for EVs.I stayed in a superior room (no. 276). It was spacious, with a big bathroom that had heated floors. My room didn’t have a balcony, but many of the other rooms did, and with that view I would recommend booking one if possible. From check-in to check-out, staff were friendly and helpful. A special thanks to Ingvild Rykkje, who made sure everything related to our meeting went perfectly smooth. It really makes a difference when someone goes the extra mile like that. Both lunch and dinner were of high quality, with local ingredients that gave the meals that extra touch. Considering the quality of the stay, food, facilities and the unique location, I found the price very fair. I wouldn’t hesitate to arrange another work event here.RegardsSvein-Magne Tunli from Bergen, Norway

    All one could expect

    rating01 Oct 2023

After a rather exhausting day of charity work for a Humanitarian Aid group (loading goods for transport to Ukraine) it was very VERY welcome to arrive at this hotel.Staff at check-in was friendly and accommodating. Also - very positively - parking for our oversize vehicle was easy accessible and spacious. Standard rooms were big and openly furnished. They seemed clean and neat. Beds were comfortable and the room had a small balcony.During the evening the bar-staff were friendly and talkative, very accommodating also to requests they did not expect. The breakfast was stunning. Plenty of nice food presented in a beautiful manner. Bread was tasty and fresh and condiments plentiful. All in all a good and heartwarming experience, although not the cheapest hotel I've ever stayed at. ;-) Thanks. Will be back next time.

    Nicely located. Large business Hotel

    rating01 Aug 2023

Well located. A good point to move around the fjords. Large greeb garden with beautiful views to the Fjords. The hotel breaks the nice Nordic architecture with a huge concrete building and an ugly metal structure of a public pool next to it. The hotel is large and rather focused on large groups or for business use. The hotel room is rather small and the shower had mold in some areas. The room didn't look very clean. I wouldn't recommend this place unless is for business

    Excellent experience!

    rating06 Jul 2023

This is a bit delayed, as I’ve just finished a 3-month trip. But because my experiences here were superb, I wanted to follow-up with a review. The basics were certainly met, as the room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. And the TV, Wi-fi, and shower all functioned well. Beyond that, though, the staff was amazing. Efficient with the business aspects, pleasant personalities, and helpful with advice - making the whole experience just enjoyable. And as I departed after a good breakfast (with good, diverse offerings), I saw an employee meticulously setting other tables, ensuring that things were simply perfect. A small thing, perhaps, but there just seemed to be a focus on ensuring that everything done well here, and that was much appreciated. And, yes, the location on the fjord was also amazing!

Beautiful location, way too expensive, especially the dinner

    rating11 Jul 2022

Right on the shore of the Hardanger fjord you find this hotel. About 2 hr drive from Bergen, Norway. OK hotel inside, but nothing more. Family room was OK for a family of 4. Sleeping couch was a bit hard. Food was way too expensive, and definitely so, the quality taken into consideration.Breakfast was very limited - at a lower quality hotel level. Dinner buffet was way too expensive (NOK 590 per adult, 290 per child ($59/29)), the quality taken into consideration. Very limited buffet, and no children friendly food (except sausages). No pasta, chicken or salmon. Dinner for two adults and two children with non-alcohol drinks came to NOK 2000 ($200) in total.Rooms were hot, and it was not possible to get it cooler than 21 degrees Celsius (69,8°F). Tried to open the window, but then the noise and cigarette smoke from the outdoor bar right below the window came into the room.Large flat grass lawns outside hotel, perfect for establishing some cool children playing apparatuses, but there was nothing.
