  My favorite hotel in Maputo. Next to the mall

  Nice 4 stars hotel next to the mall and shopping. Clean room and good breakfast. Walking distance to the water front. Excellent and helpful staff especially Nilza Tivane at front desk.   Wonderful Stay at Meliá Maputo Sky – Highly Recommended!

  I spent three nights at Meliá Maputo Sky in room 11004, and I absolutely loved my stay. The room was spacious, comfortable, and had all the amenities I needed for a relaxing visit.The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Even though most of them spoke Portuguese and I speak English, they always made an effort to assist me with a smile, which I really appreciated.The daily breakfast was excellent, with a nice variety of selections that changed each day. It was a great way to start my mornings.The location is perfect—right in the CBD and within walking distance of several good restaurants and city attractions.Overall, I had a fantastic experience and highly recommend Meliá Maputo Sky to anyone visiting Maputo.I would definitely stay here again!   Melia Maputo has great views and a prime location for exploring the city. Rooms are modern but a bit bland. Good for travelers seeking convenience and comfort in Maputo’s heart.Plus, guests get access to Luxcorpus indoor pool next to the spa.   Modern hotel with a nice harbor view

  Great location, some 15 walking minutes to the seaside and the civic center. Very friendly and helpful staff at the reception. Rooms are clean and modern, however the quality of the furniture really isn't upscale as you would expect, considering the pricing. Great view onto the harbor from the 14th floor, really enjoyed it. Late check out was offered to me. The only real downside is the completely incompetent staff at breakfast. When I went there 8 o'clock in the morning, there were around 15 guests taking breakfast with around 10 employes being présent. So it was an easy match for them to serve the guests well. But they are just not doing their job. They are talking, hanging around and just doing NOTHING. After 10 minutes, I was standing up, asking if I can finally get a coffee. After another 15 minutes, had to jump from my chair to check if there is any chance to fill up my mug. SAD. The executives of this hotel should have a conversation with the Manager who is responsible for this mess, cause it ruins the otherwise good reputation of the hotel.   Not as good as other Melia properties

  After a poor experience we wrote to the MD Antonio de Fonseca. He called and was was very apologetic. He explained that he has trouble getting staff to accept responsibility. Despite accepting our complaints he did not offer any refund which was surprising and disappointing.Here is an abbreviated version of the letter I sent him:The reception staff, in fact all the staff, were friendly and tried to be helpful at all times, but unfortunately, have not been empowered to make decisions when you are not there and unable to be contacted. The day before we arrived we had a message from the hotel saying we should pay with Mastercard. On arrival we were told that only Visa would be accepted. We have no Visa credit cards, only debit cards and this caused problems.Had we had notice we could have transferred funds to our current accounts to cover the payments. The air con was not working in one of our rooms.I ordered a salmon, cream cheese, avocado in filo pastry starter. After ten minutes I was told there was no avocado. When it arrived there was no pastry. After many discussions which should not have been necessary, the price was adjusted.At dinner I ordered Beef Wellington. It was not available. I ordered the chicken and asked for the asparagus. It was not available. The piri piri sauce was not available. I asked for carrots but was served courgettes.The chicken three of us had was inedible. My wife's steak was inedible. The wine we ordered was not available. The staff made no reductions in the bill. In the UK, we would simply have refused to pay, but we did not wish to risk a confrontation with the police in a foreign country where we do not know the Law. In the Sky Bar Dr Schurch had problems trying to sign for the bar bill. One of our party asked for milk in the room and was told to go and buy some in the Spar supermarket next door or pay at the bar. At breakfast there was a buffet. The 'hot' food was cold. The bacon was 80% fat and was undercooked. The scrambled egg was dried out. The cooked-to-order fried eggs were properly cooked. There was no marmalade or normal jam, only tomato jam and honey. We have stayed in Melia properties before and was been happy with the quality and service.
