Seeing dire reviews of some of the 3-4 star hotels in Meknes, I initially booked the Ibis half way between the station and the old city but changed my booking to the Transatlantique as it had lovely gardens and pool in the photos. I stayed one night and the price was only slightly more than the Ibis. Although one can see that the place is past its glorious days, that‘s exactly the charme of it. Staff was very friendly, food in the restaurant good and service at the table a remembrance of days gone by. Location somewhat far from the centre, but the garden makes it a nice location to stay. The help from the staff was faultless, and the interior was an opulence of tiling. The room was adequate although some bath salts would have been welcome. The biggest disappointment was the meal. The fillet of bass was poorly cooked and tasteless. The garlic sauce had no piquancy and was also tasteless. The small amount of vegetables were overcooked. Breakfast was a similar disappointment. The room was big enough but WiFi connection was really bad for a 4 star hotel the room was cold for a December night there was no water to drink.
